💙 Apraxia Awareness 💙
At Strive Kids Hub we understand that Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) impacts so much more than just talking. It can affect a child’s confidence, participation in everyday activities, social connection, play, learning, and emotional wellbeing.
Children with CAS often know exactly what they want to say, but have difficulty planning and coordinating the movements needed for speech. This can make communicating frustrating and exhausting at times. Over time, some children may begin avoiding group activities, social interactions, or situations where they feel misunderstood.
Research supports early, consistent, strengths-based intervention that focuses not only on speech development, but also on helping children participate meaningfully in daily life, build confidence, and experience success. Occupational Therapy can play an important role alongside Speech Pathology by supporting:
✨ confidence and self-esteem
✨ emotional regulation and frustration tolerance
✨ social participation and peer interaction
✨ play skills and engagement
✨ sensory and motor coordination needs
✨ participation in school, family routines, and community activities
At Strive, we focus on the whole child — celebrating communication in all forms while creating safe, supportive opportunities for children to engage, connect, and thrive. Sometimes the biggest wins are not just new words, but a child joining in, feeling understood, trying again, or building confidence to participate in the world around them. 💙
Every child deserves to feel capable, included, and heard.
