Feeling overwhelmed or constantly “on edge”? Your nervous system might be asking for support…
When we’re stressed, our body shifts into fight-or-flight mode.
But the good news is - you can gently bring your body back to calm by activating your vagus nerve - your body’s natural relaxation pathway 💫
Here are some simple techniques you can try at home:
🌿1. Slow, deep breathing
Inhale for 4… exhale for 6–8
(Longer exhales tell your body it’s safe to relax)
🌿2. Humming or gentle singing
The vibration stimulates the vagus nerve and helps settle your system
🌿3. Cold water on your face
Splash your face or finish your shower with 10–20 seconds of cool water
🌿4. Hand on heart + belly
Close your eyes and take slow, gentle breaths in and out through your nose, allowing your belly to rise and fall.
(If nose breathing doesn’t feel comfortable, a soft exhale through the mouth is perfectly okay.)
🌿 5. Gentle neck release
Tilt your head side to side (ear toward shoulder), or gently look left to right. You can also make small, slow half-circles.
Keep it soft and slow and notice what feels good for your body.
These simple daily practices can help regulate your nervous system, improve sleep, and bring you back to a place of calm.
