Too often, people are judged by what others see.

But what if what we're seeing is only the visible part of something much bigger?

The story doesn't end where our view does. So before we decide what someone needs, perhaps we need to get curious about what we don't yet know.

What's something people can't see about your experience?

Sometimes connection looks like a silent thumbs up.

For many of our Insiders living with eating disorders, finding their voice isn't easy.

Sometimes it starts with a nod, a look, or that tiny thumbs up.

Watching an Insider find a voice and then helping their families and carers understand what's really happening on the inside of an eating disorder, is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do.

Because when someone finally has a way to communicate their experience, everyone around them can begin to respond differently.

And that's what makes Door2 so powerful.

We learn to adapt.
To read the room.
To rehearse.
To hide the parts that don't fit.

And sometimes, we're so good at it that no one notices the cost.

Until the effort of being acceptable becomes exhausting.

What if belonging meant there was nothing to hide?

That's the world we're asking for.

Door2 Asks... Imaging if..

Play is often one of the first things we lose when life becomes about surviving.

Not because we don’t want joy.
But because our bodies are busy protecting us.

Recovery is not just about returning to behaviours that look “healthy”.
It’s about returning to the parts of ourselves that make us feel alive.

Door2 Asks... What if we’ve been missing the most important voice in eating disorder treatment?
The person experiencing it.

Lived experience isn’t an optional extra.
It’s expertise.

The people navigating eating disorders every day hold knowledge that cannot be learnt from a textbook alone.

When we combine clinical expertise with lived experience, we create care that sees the whole person-not just the symptoms.

The people living it hold answers we cannot afford to ignore.
Share this with someone who believes lived experience belongs at the table.

Part 4- Door2 Asks... series.

Sometimes recovery isn't about changing who we are.

It's about creating enough safety for the parts of ourselves survival taught us to hide to slowly come back.

What part of yourself are you rediscovering?🦋

This is the first post in our Door2 Asks series—a weekly invitation to pause, question what we've always assumed, and see recovery through a different lens.

What do you wish someone had understood about you as a child?

09/07/2026

Every week we're going to share a different perspective on recovery.

Not quick fixes. Not empty inspiration.

Just conversations that challenge the way we think about eating disorders, neurodiversity, trauma and recovery.

Because sometimes one new perspective can change everything.

This week, Audrey reminds us of something we wish everyone knew:

You were never the problem.

Follow along as we continue asking the questions that matter.
