Which sleep pattern are you? šŸ‘€

These are the 4 most common sleep issues I see in clinic, but they’re usually just one part of a bigger picture.

In chinese medicine, we don’t just treat ā€œbad sleepā€ we treat the pattern behind it.

That’s why when sleep improves, other things often start shifting too, energy, mood, cycle, stress tolerance.

Which one feels like you?

Yep, this is how you receive a shiatsu massage .health

On a lush heated floor futon in what ever position feels right 🫠

Sore neck, tight jaw and chronic sinus congestion, I’ve got you šŸ¤—

If you’re waking up with jaw tension… you’re not alone.

I’m seeing a lot of this in clinic at the moment, tight jaws, tension headaches, and that familiar pull through the temples and base of the skull.

It’s rarely just the jaw.
More often, it’s part of a broader pattern of holding through the face, neck and nervous system.

This kind of tension usually responds better to gentle, consistent attention… rather than going in too strong, all at once.

If this is something that keeps showing up for you, it may need a bit more support than self-work alone.

I work with this often in clinic.

Save this for when you notice your jaw creeping back in, and come in if you’re ready to start unwinding the pattern more deeply.

Are you drinking enough water?

We live in a busy, fast paced world, and I’m noticing more clients find it hard to pause and check in with their body until they complete their intake form at their first appointment.

So today is a simple check-in about water.

This isn’t about saying you must drink 1.6-2.5L of water a day. Everyone’s body is different, and hydration needs vary.

This is for the people who:
šŸ’¦ Feel thirst or notice a dry mouth, but don’t feel naturally drawn to reach for the water bottle
šŸ’¦ Are run off their feet and forget to take a moment to drink water
šŸ’¦ Are parents rushing from drop offs, pick ups, work, dinner, and bedtime routines without a sip of water

If that sounds like you, this may be a gentle reminder to look at your fluid intake and slowly build habits that support balance.

Our bodies are largely water, and good health is partly about keeping the cycle of input and loss moving.

In Chinese medicine, this experience can sometimes be associated with patterns of fluid metabolism or dampness, where:
šŸ’§The mouth feels dry but there isn’t strong desire to drink
šŸ’§Drinking may feel uncomfortable or slightly nauseating
šŸ’§Fluids feel more ā€œstuckā€ or make you feel bloated after drinking

If this feels familiar, get in touch to see if chines medicine might have some options for you.

But for right now, take this small reminder to take stock and make sure you have dropped the ball on fluids 🫶

Here are some of my favourite Chinese medicine wind-down tips for an overactive mind.

I’ve had a lot of requests for sleep hygiene support this week. While there are plenty of well known tips out there, like dimming the lights, reducing screen time, moving your body, and cutting back on alcohol or coffee, I also love weaving in some gentle Chinese medicine practices to settle the system before bed:

šŸŒ™ Ear massage
šŸŒ™ Face + scalp acupressure
šŸŒ™ A warm foot soak
šŸŒ™ Allowing time to digest your evening meal

These practices aim to tell your body it’s safe to slow down and drift into deeper rest.

This months bookclub book

ā€œWe want our daughters to be curious and independent and ambi-tious. We want them to make good choices, to have the resilience to bounce back from their ā€˜it seemed like a good idea at the time’ decisions, and to possess the strength to recover from plain bad luck.

More than anything, we want them to have the courage to be real.

We want them to understand themselves and to genuinely like who they are. If we were to boil down our goal as parents, it would be: we want to raise girls - and the women they become - who love themselves as much as we love them. Unconditionally.ā€

Why BBT Chart?

Basal Body Temperature charting takes the guesswork out of your cycle.

It doesn’t mean you have to get hyper-focused or stressed, BBT charting can actually be a calm, empowering way to connect with your body and build fertility awareness.

It’s not just about ovulation timing.

BBT helps reveal:
ā™„ļø Cycle irregularity
ā™„ļø Luteal phase length
ā™„ļø Erratic temps (from stress, illness, thyroid)
ā™„ļø Anovulatory cycles (when ovulation doesn’t happen)

It gives you early insight into hormone balance, thyroid health, and progesterone levels before you hit that 6–12 month mark of wondering what’s taking so long.

Plus, bringing your BBT chart into your Chinese medicine sessions gives us real-time data to work with and you’ll actually see the impact of your acupuncture in your charts.

Want help getting started with the right app, or have questions about what your chart is telling you?

DM me or book a free discovery call. Let’s take the guesswork out of your journey.
