When I first read Eat, Pray, Love I decided that a mid-life reinvention was going to be for me. I just didn’t expect it to happen to me at 30…
Hi, I’m Lauren. Mum of two, brand designer and creative director, yoga teacher, writer and who 8 months ago separated from a 12 year partnership, and who is now running a solo business and is living in her own space for the first time in her life annnnnd who just bought a 1970s vintage caravan…
So, what is this chapter all about?
It’s about EXPRESSION.
Two years ago I was bullied and taken advantage of in a workplace setting by someone I thought I could trust and who had my best interests at heart, someone who wanted to help me grow my career in marketing and who saw my natural abilities in community building.
What should’ve been a soul-crushing and reputation ruining experience, I alchemists it into a springboard for spiritual growth and personal revolution.
Overnight, I became very honest about the fact that I had been settling for less than treatment. And I had been doing it for a long time. And it was staring to cost me my health, my relationships and my spirit.
I was meant for more.
So what did I do?
I made a radical series of very f*king hard decisions. I quit my job. I exited my business partnerships I no longer had capacity for. I rejected hustle culture. I ended out-of-date friendships that didn’t value me or see me clearly. And, the hardest of all of them… I ended a 12 year partnership with the father of my children, the man I had been with since I was 19.
Just after I turned 30, I found myself co-parenting, living in my own space for the first time ever, going all in on my business, buying a vintage caravan and writing a book about the journey I’ve been on the get here — to meet the woman who’s been trying to get my attention for so many years.
And who is she?
She is open-hearted. She is generous. She is wildly creative and deeply intuitive. She cares a lot about the things that matter most and gives 0 f*cks about the things that don’t. She is supportive and she helps bring people’s dreams to life. She builds communities and she builds worlds.
And she is unstoppable. ❤️
