I'm Caitlyn — a midwife, mother, and researcher based in Yallingup, where I live with my husband and two daughters. Outside of work, I value time with my family, growing food on our farm, and staying connected to my local community. My path into midwifery came through a mix of curiosity and conviction, and it's shaped how I think, parent, and live. I care deeply about evidence, ethics, and supporting women in ways that are both practical and respectful.

Yoga for Birth - starting next month in Dunsborough. Hosted by private midwife Caity Atkinson, this is not a lecture, not a checklist, not a classroom. This is an embodied preparation for labour. This is training.

Labour isn’t something you can think your way through. It asks you to be both soft and gritty when things get intense.

Each class is a chance to use movement and breath to practice being soft and strong, through the work and the rest - to train for labour as you would for anything else that asks something of your body.

No experience necessary, come as you are.

I spent 7 years refining and sharing this unique practice with women in Margaret River. It’s been a while, but it’s good to be back!

March 2027 spots for full continuity of care are almost full.
Two ways to have a private midwife - clinic care through your pregnancy, or full continuity with birth care.

My Nan was a midwife her whole life. First in Burma, then on King Edward Memorial Hospital’s ‘labour and delivery ward’ for the rest of her career.

She tells me that our role is to be with women “in their suffering”.

It makes me smile a little — because English is her second language, and she says “suffering” not with pity, but with a quiet, whispered reverence.

And that’s what a lot of midwifery is, I think. Reverence, compassion, support — for the mind, body, and life altering event that birth is, in all its forms.

I hear it from almost every woman.

“I didn’t know this was an option.”

Private midwifery care isn’t only for home birth.

Clinic care is for women who want their own midwife through pregnancy, while birthing with our local hospital teams. The more affordable way to access private midwifery care.

Appointments follow the standard WA maternity care schedule. I organise your hospital booking, refer for bloods and scans, and collaborate closely with our local obstetricians — clinic care isn’t only for straightforward pregnancies.

Each appointment attracts a Medicare rebate, with a small out-of-pocket fee.

We can start from your first positive test, or at any point in pregnancy.

Clinic bookings open. Limited full package birth care spots for March — already filling. Link in bio.

There’s something to be said for work that’s good for the women, good for their families, and good for the community.
I think it means we’re onto something.

Who are you, and what do you need? They’re big questions, beyond the checkboxes.

Every day I see women in Facebook groups posting — what can I ask for? Which hospital supports this? Can I decline? How will that impact my options?

You can find more than a comments-section answer — someone to explore all of this with you, in a conversation centred on your personal and clinical wants and needs.

This is the crux of midwifery care (and my favourite part).

I don’t want your care to feel as though it’s simply happening around you — or to you — while you’re left trying to keep pace with it all.

Pregnancy changes. Circumstances shift. New information comes in. Sometimes priorities, plans, and the team involved in your care changes too.

Care planning is the ongoing process of working through those changes as pregnancy unfolds — together.

A central part of midwifery care is preparing for labour, feeding, postpartum recovery, decision-making, and gradually building practical understanding before birth arrives.

You can have most of your antenatal care in the midwifery clinic throughout pregnancy, and still give birth through Busselton or Bunbury Hospital under the care of the hospital maternity team.

— 45-minute antenatal visits
— Pregnancy bloods, referrals, and routine checks organised through the clinic
— Collaboration with GPs, doctors, and obstetricians as needed or wanted
— Planned public hospital birth
