ফিলিপাইন সফর শেষে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে ড. জিয়াউদ্দিন হায়দার দেশের স্বাস্থ্যখাতের রূপান্তরে সরকারের বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ তুলে ধরেন। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে নার্সিং শিক্ষার আধুনিকায়ন, আন্তর্জাতিক মানের প্রশিক্ষণ, শিক্ষা অবকাঠামোর উন্নয়ন, দক্ষ স্বাস্থ্যকর্মী তৈরি এবং বৈশ্বিক কর্মসংস্থানের নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি।

আন্তর্জাতিক অভিজ্ঞতা ও সফল মডেলকে কাজে লাগিয়ে একটি শক্তিশালী, আধুনিক এবং ভবিষ্যতমুখী স্বাস্থ্যব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলাই এই উদ্যোগগুলোর মূল লক্ষ্য।

ঝালকাঠির পঞ্চমোহনায় ৮৮.৩৬ একর সরকারি জমিতে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের নদীভিত্তিক ইকো-ট্যুরিজম ও সাংস্কৃতিক কেন্দ্র গড়ে তোলার প্রস্তাবে অনুমোদন দিয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

ড. জিয়াউদ্দিন হায়দারের উদ্যোগে এবং মন্ত্রিপরিষদ বিভাগ থেকে আসা এই প্রস্তাবে থাকছে ইকো-রিসোর্ট, ভাসমান রেস্টুরেন্ট, লোকজ জাদুঘর আর জীবনানন্দ দাশ সাহিত্য ও গবেষণা কেন্দ্র। গাবখান চ্যানেল আর ধানসিঁড়ি ঘিরে তৈরি হবে পর্যটন সার্কিট। বাস্তবায়িত হলে পর্যটন ও কর্মসংস্থানে ভূমিকা রাখবে প্রকল্পটি।

সম্প্রতি ম্যানিলায় ফিলিপাইনের স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রণালয় এবং অভিবাসী কর্মী মন্ত্রণালয়ের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে এক অত্যন্ত ফলপ্রসূ দ্বিপাক্ষিক বৈঠকে অংশ নেন ড. জিয়াউদ্দিন হায়দার। তিনি বাংলাদেশ সরকারের স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয় এবং এশীয় উন্নয়ন ব্যাংক (ADB)-এর যৌথ প্রতিনিধিদলের নেতৃত্ব দেন।

বৈঠকে বাংলাদেশে নার্সিং ও মিডওয়াইফারি শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়ন, প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা ব্যবস্থা জোরদার করা এবং দক্ষ নার্স ও মিডওয়াইফদের জন্য আন্তর্জাতিক কর্মসংস্থানের নতুন দিগন্ত উন্মোচন নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয়। ফিলিপাইনের সুদীর্ঘ অভিজ্ঞতাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে বাংলাদেশে কার্যকর ও টেকসই উদ্যোগ বাস্তবায়নে প্রতিনিধিদলটি আশাবাদী।

মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়ন, মানসম্মত স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিতকরণ এবং বৈদেশিক কর্মসংস্থান বৃদ্ধি—এই তিন লক্ষ্য অর্জনে এমন আন্তর্জাতিক অংশীদারিত্ব অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে ড. জিয়াউদ্দিন হায়দার বিশ্বাস করেন।

Dr. S M Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Affairs (with the status of a State Minister), attended the launching ceremony of the International Nutrition Olympiad 2026 as the Chief Guest.

Addressing an audience of students, educators, health professionals, and distinguished guests, Dr. Ziauddin Hyder emphasized the vital role of proper nutrition in building a healthier, more resilient, and prosperous Bangladesh. He highlighted that nutrition is fundamental not only to individual well-being but also to education, productivity, and sustainable national development.

Encouraging young people to become champions of nutrition, he underscored the importance of raising awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and contributing to healthier communities through knowledge, leadership, and collective action.

Today, I had the privilege of leading the Bangladesh delegation in an important meeting with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg. The EIB delegation was led by Ms. Thouraya Triki.

Our discussions were highly productive, and we agreed in principle to repurpose an existing EIB loan to support the strengthening of Bangladesh’s health system, particularly to address the growing burden of cervical and breast cancer. This initiative is fully aligned with the vision of the Tarique Rahman-led BNP Government to expand access to quality primary health care for every citizen, with special emphasis on the health and well-being of women, newborns, and children.
We also discussed potential EIB support in other priority areas, including the use of solar energy solutions for Upazila Health Complexes and other health facilities, as well as strengthening healthcare waste management systems. These initiatives will contribute to building a more resilient, sustainable, and environmentally responsible health sector in Bangladesh.

The meeting reflected our shared commitment to further strengthening the friendship and partnership between Bangladesh and the European Union in advancing health and development outcomes.

I was pleased that senior officials from UNFPA, including its Chief of Staff and the UNFPA Representative in Bangladesh, were also present and contributed to the discussions.
Together, we are working towards a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for the people of Bangladesh.
