Sandal-Rose-Musk

It was not intended. While changing Musk containers, the previous container had oils released by the semi-wet grains smeared to the walls, to put nothing to waste, it was washed with sandalwood and then blended with a little bit of Iranian Rose Otto and a touch of Vintage Bulgarian Rose Absolute.

This musk is not sk**ky or f***l at all, a very sweet almost sugary, saccharine type quality with intoxicating animalic tones. The rose and sandal with the musk creates a very sweet woody musky ethereal aroma that feels very close to one's heart. This aromatic sensation permeates the soul, relaxes the mind and elevates one's being.

Oud & Rose

The interplay between the most esteemed wood and the most cherished flower creates a perpetual struggle, drawing the mind toward a sought-after harmony. This fusion, from its very beginning, has captured the perfume world's attention with its enigmatic yet straightforward allure.

In the midst of major brands, a silent rivalry rages on. Skyrocketing Agarwood prices have driven many to seek synthetic substitutes to mimic the essence, or at times, not even attempting to approximate the genuine Agarwood.

Through the turmoil, the archetype is lost. The authentic oud and rose combination, once a potent duo, is now preserved only within select Niche houses.

Our 'Oud and Rose' offers a rendition of this classic concept. By meticulously blending two-year-old Assamese Oud, distilled from a tree aged forty-five years, with Iranian Kashan Rose Otto and a Vintage Bulgarian Rose Absolute, it delivers an intriguing sensation that lingers in the olfactory senses.

The robust Hindi oud combined with various rose extracts provides a diffusively broad-spectrum opening and a mesmerizing evolution that is both majestic and sophisticated, settling into a familiar, sweeter oud with a hint of rose.

Kōdō, the Japanese art of incense appreciation.

The idea of “listening” to the fragrance gave rise to the word and act of 'Monkoh' (literally, listening to what fragrances are telling you).

Origins and History: The roots of Kōdō trace back to ancient Japan, around 595 CE. Legend has it that agarwood (aloeswood) arrived on Awaji Island when a drifting log of incense wood washed ashore during Empress Suiko’s reign. This marked the beginning of a rich tradition that would flourish over the next millennium.

During the Heian period, fragrant scents played a vital role in court life. Nobles adorned themselves with perfumed robes and fans, creating an atmosphere of elegance and refinement. Kōdō, which translates to “the way of fragrance,” became an integral part of courtly rituals. Participants engaged in activities like sonaekō, where fragrant wood was burned, filling the air with exquisite scents.

The Art of Appreciation: Kōdō encompasses more than mere fragrance; it is an art form that engages all the senses. Participants learn to discern and appreciate subtle scents, heightening their sensory awareness. Unlike other types of incense, Japanese incense lacks a bamboo core, resulting in a more delicate aroma. The process involves various tools (kōdōgu) and incense-comparing games (kumikō and genjikō).

Classical Art of Refinement: Kōdō holds a prestigious place among the three classical Japanese arts of refinement. Alongside ikebana (flower arrangement) and chadō (tea ceremony), it invites us to explore the world of fragrance, connecting our senses to tradition and culture.

In summary, Kōdō invites us to appreciate the subtle beauty of scents, fostering a deeper connection with our surroundings.
