First of all, what a weird year huh?! 🥴🤪🤯🙃
💡Since we've all been there, I don't really want to state the obvious... So here's an idea on how to smoothly recover from it!
Why:
1. The colder it gets, the lower the barometric pressure, meaning that pressure against the body drops -> joints and injured areas expand/swell -> inflammation increases -> the nerves get irritation and that causes a feeling of pain.
2. The colder it gets, the harder it gets to keep a stable body temperature, meaning that the bloodflow gets rerouted from the limbs to the other important organs, such as the heart and lungs -> the fluid inside the joints becomes thicker and that causes the feeling of stiffness on the joint areas.
3. The colder it gets, the less physically active we are, making it even harder for your body to keep a stable body temperature and magnifying what is mentioned above (2.).
How:
By using various massage techniques to warm up the body and stimulating the bloodflow. This by placing more focus on the sensitive tendon areas, muscles and surrounding tissues. Which in turn will help relax the muscles and reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines, comparable to the effect of conventional anti-inflammatory drugs.
What:
A combination of Swedish massage techniques such as:
- Effleurage: this relaxes the soft tissue which makes the customer more comfortable.
- Petrissage: warms up and relaxes the body locally, making it easier to find the problem areas.
- Friction: increases the bloodflow and helps break down scar tissue by rubbing different layers of tissue against each other with deep circular movements.
And adding stretching (Thai-) massage techniques who can help the activation of signaling pathways involving mitochondrial biogenesis signals (= a self‐renewal route -> new mitochondria are generated from existing ones) which will help the healing process of the problem areas.
