Did you know there are different types of hair transplant? The main 2 types are strip technique and follicular unit extraction.

My personal preference is FUE and I use the WAW device by I like to keep extraction sites as small as possible to speed up healing of the donor area with a low transection rate to preserve as many follicles as possible. The choice of technique is going to depend on the surgeon and what they are most comfortable with doing to give patients the best result.

I ♥️ combination skin laser treatments (when done safely).

The 2025 study by Dr. John Peters, Dr. Nicole Salame, Dr. Ariel Eber, Dr. Jessica Labadie, Dr. Prisanthi Kandula, and Dr. Jeffrey Dover was impactful because it provided an objective analysis of the combination of nonablative fractional laser and monopolar Radiofrequency over a 6 month period. In their study they specifically used Clear + Brilliant and Thermage systems.

Link to the study is here: https://www.ovid.com/jnls/dermatologicsurgery/abstract/10.1097/dss.0000000000004584~combination-use-of-1440-nm-and-1927-nm-nonablative?redirectionsource=fulltextview

Cold capping (scalp cooling) is the best preventive strategy to reduce chemotherapy induced hair loss.

What does fractionated CO2 laser treated skin look like? Well, up close, this.

fun fact- this is my skin (really zoomed in)

CO2 ablative fractionated laser treatments work through selective photothermolysis with water as its target chromosphere. The water inside and outside of your cells absorb the infrared energy ➡️ rapid heating vaporizes the epidermis and part of the dermis ➡️ causes micro columns of skin to be ablated (really tiny holes) ➡️ which then triggers a coordinated wound healing cascade to stimulate your body to produce collagen, elastin, MMPs (to degrade old damaged collagen), proteoglycans/ECM, TGF-beta, miRNA, heat shock proteins (to balance the pro-repair and anti-fibrotic effects).

I perform this treatment to tighten the skin, shrink the appearance of pores, smoothen the skin, treat scars, treat sun damage, decrease the incidence of skin cancer, and reverse skin aging.

Typically the spots that you see in the picture darken for the first 4 days then start to come off over 1-2 weeks. The result from this treatment is at 3-6 months. It’s one that I do for my skin and keep coming back to. That said, it is not for everyone. It is important to have an evaluation with a laser expert to see if you are an appropriate candidate.

What a difference 6 months can make… Hair restoration can be life changing. Here, I performed a 3,000 graft FUE hair transplant procedure for my patient focusing on the frontal and temporal hair line. The best results come from a combination of medical and surgical management however there are several different options as well. Board certified dermatologists are experts in hair and being able to bring my dermatology training to the table helps to maximize my patients’ hair restoration results.

If you’re ready to have a conversation about hair restoration, let’s talk.
