Hills or mountains, that is the frequent discussion here ar Amiglia during shared meals. In any case, we are not surrounded by a flat landscape, and… when we go for walks, we are rewarded with a stunning view of the very big and real mountains, commonly called Alps.

In the long line of snow-capped peaks, there is one that stands out: Monte Viso (“the mountain seen”).

Age is just a number.

Nan is 72 and never have we seen a woman more flexible and energetic. We have nothing to teach her. So she goes for long walks, sometimes 7 hours a day. And then she teaches us about the paths we haven’t discovered yet, about the viewpoints where you see the snowy mountain tops of the Alps on one side, and Amiglia on the other side.

And the youngest person present at Amiglia is 18!

It’s moving how we inspire each other in all stages of life, how rich we feel to share life at Amiglia.

One of the moving parts of our shared life is our daily morning practice. We do it before we eat or speak, before we even look at each other — as we do the morning practice with our eyes closed: half an hour of music on which we move freely, and half an hour of silent meditation. We start every morning at 7:30, as the church bells of the village ring.

Women and mimosa - It’s a tradition in Italy to give mimosa on International Women’s Day.

Mimosa is a symbol of strength, sensitivity and beauty.

And right on this day we met two fantastic and incredibly powerful women - with not only mimosa in their garden. Rachel and Maria grow exceptional vegetables (and their flowers) for Michelin starred restaurants in France. Organic and no-digging.

What a treat to see their work and passion, the beauty they create on earth, at just a few kilometers from Amiglia.

Love and encouragement to all women on this day to follow their passion and become experts in what they most like to do in this life!

Did you know that the name AMIGLIA is not just a beautiful name with Italian vibes, but also carries meaning — in a few different ways?

For starters: AMI is an anagram for I AM — the mantra for those who do self-inquiry, non-duality style. Because all that is of this worldly life might not be true — but ‘being’ there must be. So, in meditation we come back to ‘I am’. Not I as a person, but I as that which is unchangeable. An experience of Oneness.

But the letters A.M.I also stand for words in their own right.

I is for INQUIRY

At Amiglia we like inquiry. Self-inquiry and other kinds of inquiry. We like to welcome those who want to understand more of who they are — and what their true nature is. But Amiglia is also a wonderful place for someone working on a research project. It’s a perfect place to focus.

And I could also be for INTERNATIONAL. That suits us very well too.

I believe we can find a powerful key in language.
We are all deeply immersed in it.
We speak it, we think in it, write it, dream in it...
Language is the veil between us and undivided reality.

In my research, I’ve discovered a way to use language differently.
By prioritising verbs over subjects and objects, we begin to speak a language that doesn’t divide — but instead reveals the interconnected flow of reality.
A language that reflects the wholeness we are part of.

Adopting this alternative mode of speaking shifts our experience.
It brings a sense of completeness. Of deep connection.
And the surprising thing? It also makes our language more poetic.
We still get to enjoy the poetry of being human — but without the illusion of separation.”
