Proven Health Benefits - Discover the Science of Natural Wellness Discover superfoods and natural supplements through science with biologist and PhD in Pharmacology of Natural and Synthetic Bioactive Products, Renata Turoey.

Make better-informed health choices for the longevity and well-being of you and your family. Proven Health Benefits is under development and will share science-based health information that is clear and easy to follow, primarily drawn from clinical studies on nutritional supplements, superfoods, and bioactive compounds. This applies especially to the websites we are developing about specific healt

h topics. Several websites are being prepared where you will find information on health effects documented in human studies, side effects, dosing, drug interactions, and other important factors that can help you make a better informed health decision, possibly together with your physician. On social media we also share third-party information, articles about findings from new studies, and other information we consider useful, but which has not necessarily been reviewed to the same extent as the content on our own websites. NOTE: We use affiliate links that may give us a commission if you choose to order products. This helps fund the work of reviewing studies and presenting professional content, but does not affect our scientific assessments. As a new customer you will normally receive a discount on your first purchase through the links we share; see the details for each link and feel free to contact us if you have questions about this. We do not attribute specific health effects to supplements; we report what researchers have documented in studies. Although clinical findings may point to specific health effects, this does not guarantee health benefits. We are all biochemically different and have varying needs and conditions. Find out what works best for you together with your physician or other qualified healthcare professional. We do not provide any form of personal health or medical advice. We share research-based information on a general basis that can help you make better informed health choices. Clinical research offers no guarantees but can be a useful guide to which natural products and superfoods may best support good health with the lowest possible risk of side effects. The information is used at your own risk. We do our best to keep the content up to date and accurate, but errors may occur. Please contact us with source references if you find something you believe is incorrect. "The testing of more than 110 items ranging from shampoo to baby lotions found evidence of unlabeled toxic chemicals in about 85%.

Many contained multiple ingredients known to be carcinogens or health hazards, and even 26% of products labeled “eco”, “green” or “natural” contained at least one dangerous compound. The products averaged more than three times as many chemicals than were listed on labels."

Even products labeled ‘eco’, ‘green’ or ‘natural’ can contain dangerous compounds including Pfas

He adds: “It's not that we've got to cut out all , or that every ultra-processed food is bad.” Instead, we might benefit from consuming them more mindfully and in moderation."

Your might be fooling you. And your is paying the price.

BBC Science Focus just broke down what large-scale studies have been saying for years: synthetic multivitamins do not deliver. A 2024 NIH analysis tracking nearly 390,000 adults over two decades found zero mortality benefit from regular multivitamin use. An earlier NIH-funded study showed the same pattern: nutrients from food reduced death risk, but the same nutrients in pill form did nothing. As the Science Focus article puts it, most synthetic vitamins just create "expensive urine."

And "boosting" your immune system with isolated lab-made nutrients? Misleading. An overactive immune system is not a stronger one. It is one that starts attacking things it should not, including your own tissues.

Here is what almost nobody talks about.

Throughout human history, your immune system was in constant contact with the environment. Wild yeast, fermented foods, soil, unwashed produce, bacteria and yeast on every surface. Your immune cells evolved dedicated receptors, specifically Dectin-1, that recognize yeast beta-glucans and use them as training signals.

These are not random stimuli. Beta-glucans bind to immune cells and trigger what scientists call "trained immunity." They prime macrophages and natural killer cells to respond faster and smarter to future threats. Clinical studies show they reduce inflammatory markers, improve vaccine antibody responses, and lower infection rates in high-risk patients, all without pushing the immune system into overdrive.

The problem? Over the last 150 years or so, industrialized food processing, sterilization, and ultra-refined diets stripped most of these compounds out of our daily lives. Our immune systems are still wired to expect them. They just stopped receiving the signal.

Natural, nutrient-dense whole-food sources tell a different story. Spirulina has clinical data showing reductions in inflammatory markers like C-reactive protein, drops in allergy-driving cytokines (IL-4 down about 32%), and increased natural killer cell activity. And mushrooms are another dense source of beneficial compounds, including immune-modulating beta-glucans with documented clinical effects.

So, the fix is not another synthetic multivitamin with 25 isolated nutrients your body barely recognizes. It is reconnecting with the compounds your immune system evolved alongside. Organic fruits and vegetables, a meaningful weekly intake of mushrooms, more contact with nature, and targeted supplementation with whole-food sources like spirulina and yeast (or mushroom) beta-glucans are the most practical way to close that gap and ensure optimal immune health.

Your immune system does not need boosting or synthetic vitamins. It needs the signals it was designed to receive. See our comment below for some of the best natural supplements to try (we use affiliate links and may earn a commission if you purchase) and our discount codes.

There are plenty of companies claiming their vitamins can boost your immune system, but do you actually need them?

"If Nothing Else, This Is an Argument for Biodiversity

Many drugs target only one specific part of a . It usually works out well, until the virus sidesteps the by mutating, as we’ve seen dozens of times with COVID-19 and its many variants. The galloylquinic acids appear to attack several systems at once, so thoroughly attacking them that it makes it more difficult for the virus to develop resistance."

Scientists from Brazil and Egypt isolated compounds from the tree’s leaves, then introduced them to the COVID-19 virus. Here's what happened.

Dr. Hilda Wong, M.D. - "Your digestive system is highly sensitive to change. Even small disruptions in your daily routine can influence how your gut functions. When you travel, those changes tend to happen all at once.

One of the biggest factors is diet. Trying new cuisines is one of the best parts of traveling, but unfamiliar ingredients, spices, and preparation methods can be difficult for your gut to process. Even something as simple as a shift in fiber intake can alter digestion."
