Sunday walk around Ranaka's hills and gorges, with dry streams and waterfalls waiting for the rain to fill them back up again, and the village, was a sublime and very pleasant and experience.
๐กDid you know that Ranaka is above 1,000 m (more than 3,000 ft)? ๐ฎ๐ฒ
Ee, bagaetso. And the hills surrounding the village connect to more popular and higher hill systems like Otse and Monyenalong!
๐กDid you know that hill ecosystems in Botswana occupy only 1% of the national land area? ๐ฎ๐ฒ
Ee, bagaetso. And they are sources of well-being in all senses. They give us water, medicines, food, and building materials, and fulfill our spirits.
We marveled at the birds, the odorous and remarkable blooms of motubane (wild pear), the imposing blooms of monabete (common coral tree), and the strenght of motsikiri (thatching and broom love grass). Photo credits: R. Grob, Anisha Jay, Laone LowRain Seleka.
