3RD BW WOMEN'S RACE BILLED FOR SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2026.
RACE IS A FUNDRAISER FOR CANCER PATIENTS
The 3rd BW Women's Race will take place on September 5th, 2026 at the Avani Gaborone Resort and Casino. The Chief Executive Officer of HATAB (Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana) Ms Lily Rakorong is the Chief Runner at the cancer awareness and fundraising event.
"Botswana continues to record unprecedented cases of Cancer diagnosis and mortalities, affecting men and women, young and old people across the country. As part of our small contribution, we will donate some of the proceeds from the race towards purchasing toiletries for less privileged patients. This is also our way of supporting Government in bringing dignity to those battling the disease" said the race founder Ms Kesego Kebelaele Okie.
She further explained that anyone can sign up for the race, encouraging Corporates to support by registering their employees. She revealed that men too are allowed to participate, as the initiative is not only inclusive, but will benefit patients irrespective of gender.
The race comprises the 5km and 10km categories, and includes options for walking or running, giving participants an option to choose from. Companies that have already come on board as sponsors include Vita Life Pharmacies, Setho Health, Bakaya Hotels Group, Ticket Linc, Fitness Groove, Okest Life with Thato Mahube and Avani Gaborone Resort and Casino. Tickets are P100 and P200 for the 5km and 10km distance, respectively.
