This topic can bring up a lot of guilt and shame, but burnout is an issue with the conditions, not a character flaw. It tends to hit parents who are deeply invested, who hold high standards, who are trying hard.

The exhaustion is evidence of sustained effort, not failure.❤️

Autoimmune disease is growing rapidly across the world and has been deemed a major health crisis.

Women are more likely to be affected than men.

My latest Continuing Education training was such a good reminder that Naturopathic Medicine can really shine when it comes to co-management of autoimmune conditions: reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and helping the immune system ‘chill out’ and be more tolerant to self.

Hormones, stress, environmental toxins, post-viral triggers, gut microbiome, vitamin/nutrient status - all key players.

Some mornings feel like an Olympic sport racing the clock to get everyone fed, dressed and out the door.

Especially when met with resistance from a spicy two year old refusing to get dressed or wanting to wear her older brother’s boots to daycare.

Turn off the radio. Find a moment of silence before starting work or jumping into the day that is likely full of notifications, noise, tasks, mental lists, thinking…aka normal life but all = activation mode.

Silence can shift our nervous system state out of this into calm.

Kids home over March break may be perfect timing to try this…if needed🙏🏼
