I’ve got a heartfelt letter here, but if your attention span is shot (whose isn’t?), here’s the short version:
I’m no longer accepting new mobile locations so I can provide better care to the patients already under my care.
✍️
Dear people with animals in the greater Ottawa area,
I’m officially closing my books to new mobile locations for the foreseeable future. We’re still accepting patients onto our waitlist, but I don’t anticipate taking on new barns until well into 2027.
I’ve been saying for months that we’re essentially a waitlist-only mobile practice. The problem is that people keep asking, and I keep saying yes.
The result has been too many 12hr workdays, followed by spending most of my time off recovering.
Yesterday, I took a break to play ball with Coa. He was over the moon to have some quality time with me, and it hit me how little of that we’ve had lately.
When my husband came outside, I promptly burst into tears and told him all the ways in which I was being a terrible dog mom. Being a therapist, he’s pretty good at holding space for me during emotional moments (seriously, I won the lottery by marrying this man). But it was also a wake-up call.
Having more animals to see than hours in the day is a problem I dreamed of when I started my practice two years ago. I’m deeply grateful to be here, but the way I’ve been managing it isn’t sustainable. Ultimately, it isn’t what my patients deserve.
So, what does this mean?
• Existing clients: I’m not going anywhere. This is about protecting my ability to provide quality care for your animals.
• Upcoming appointments: If I’ve committed to seeing you, your appointment is safe. I intend to honour every booking.
• New barns: My books are closed for the foreseeable future.
• New horses: You’re welcome to join the waitlist if I already visit your stable.
If you’re not currently on my route, we can refer you to another chiropractor or find somewhere you can trailer your horse to see me.
I’ve still got another month of long days ahead while fulfilling existing commitments. After that, I’m making more room for mornings and evenings with my handsome husband and Coa.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust. 💛
