🔥🌲 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day – Deer Lake🌲🔥

Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about wildfire risks and encouraging communities to take proactive steps to reduce their vulnerability to wildfires.

Traditionally observed on the first Saturday in May... and yes, we're a little late 😜... but it's never too late to become better prepared!

Deer Lake Fire Rescue is proud to partner with FireSmart Canada and the Town of Deer Lake to host an evening focused on wildfire preparedness, emergency readiness, and community resilience.

📍 **Deer Lake Fire Hall – 26 Reid's Lane**

Wildfires don't just impact individual properties, they can affect entire neighbourhoods and communities.

We were so delighted to get the Islaview Pay It Forward Challenge this year!!

The concept is, the “Card” starts at one business on Islaview Day, and travels around the community for weeks after! With the Pay it Forward card, there is usually a treat or a surprise that accompanies it. We were all so happy to receive a cake and a tray of yummy cookies from our friends next door at BMO! 🍰🍪 Thanks Denise, Angie and the staff!

Then, it was our turn, so we put some great thought into who we could share the joy with. Thinking small businesses that often get overlooked, we picked The Dog House - In House Dog Boarding on Hancocks Road! Who more deserving of a treat than these two amazing, caring people, who love everyone’s dogs, like they are their own. Small businesses, like The Dog House, make such a huge impact on our community, so this was an ideal opportunity to appreciate, recognize and celebrate them! We also shared a goodie bag of Compliments products as well as some dog treats 🐾
