PART 53 — things I don’t do after healing my autoimmune…

Small daily habits quietly increase inflammation & make symptoms harder to manage. Healing naturally comes down to what you do consistently, here’s what to shift and what actually helps:

1️⃣ Staying in high-stress environments too long

Your body can’t heal in constant survival mode. Over time this dysregulates your nervous system, impacts hormones, digestion, & immune function. In TCM: depletes Kidney Yin + stagnates Liver Qi → fatigue, tension, hormonal imbalance

SWAP: remove yourself from overstimulating environments when possible, prioritize calm spaces, nervous system regulation, & daily pauses to reset

2️⃣ Drinking low-quality water

Hydration isn’t just about water, it’s about what’s in it. Many contain fluoride, chlorine, or lack minerals your cells actually need. In TCM: weak fluid metabolism → dampness, fatigue, sluggish digestion

SWAP: choose low/no fluoride where possible, filter your water, & look for natural mineral-rich sources to better support hydration at a cellular level

3️⃣ Not prioritizing food quality (esp. meat)

The quality of what you eat directly impacts inflammation & your overall load. Antibiotics, poor farming practices, & low nutrient density can affect gut + immune balance. In TCM: weak Spleen Qi → bloating, fatigue, poor digestion

SWAP: include more pasture-raised, antibiotic-free, organic cuts where you can + focus on whole, minimally processed foods (eat 4 your blood type)

4️⃣ Thinking rest is unproductive

You only heal when you rest, & that depends on how deeply rested your body actually is. Constant output keeps the body in stress mode and delays repair. In TCM: Qi depletion → burnout, immune dysregulation, chronic fatigue

SWAP: reframe rest as medicine, build in true recovery time, and let your body fully downshift without guilt

Run club w/ is officially BACK! 👟🌰☕️

Kicking off run club season the only way we know how… community, movement & a little discomfort 😉

This Saturday was extra special teaming up with .club & .discomfort for a run all about getting outside your comfort zone & into something bigger. From 2.5K to 5K, every pace showed up & that’s what it’s about 🤍

We met at , ran through Trinity Bellwoods Park surrounded by cherry blossoms (we lucked out 🌸), then came back for coffee, nuts & chats ☕️

PART 51 — things I don’t do after healing my autoimmune…

Small daily habits quietly increase inflammation & make symptoms harder to manage. Healing naturally comes down to what you do consistently, here’s what to shift and what actually helps:

1️⃣ Saying “yes” when your body is a clear “no”

Overriding your intuition keeps your nervous system in stress mode, which impacts hormones, digestion, and immune function. In TCM: stagnates Liver Qi → tension, irritability, hormonal imbalance

SWAP: pause before committing, check in with your body, or try the sway test (your body will literally lean forward for yes, back for no) & normalize saying no w/out over-explaining

2️⃣ Ignoring these ingredients (BHT, BHA etc) 👇

hidden in your fav spices, canned beans, veggies, “healthy” snacks, bars, sauces, all the places you wouldn’t expect. AVOID artificial colors (Red 40, Yellow 5), preservatives (BHA, BHT), emulsifiers (polysorbate 80, carrageenan), & excess seed oils. In TCM: weakens Spleen Qi → bloating, fatigue, sluggish digestion

SWAP: read labels, simple whole ingredients, & choose products with short, real-food ingredient lists

3️⃣ Avoiding what’s actually triggering you + hoping it goes away

If it is triggering you, it’s keeping your hormones out of balance, cortisol high, and your body in a constant uneasy/stressed state. In TCM: unresolved imbalances create internal dampness + heat (where autoimmune thrives)

SWAP: track your symptoms, notice patterns, & adjust gently instead of pushing through. Say NO & REMOVE yourself from situations work, friends, life etc.

4️⃣ GMO Foods

GMO (genetically modified organisms) meaning the food has been altered in a lab in a way your body doesn’t naturally recognize/metabolize

The highest GMO foods are corn, soy, canola, & sugar beets (often hidden in oils + sweeteners). In processed foods & even in ‘healthy’ products.In TCM: excess toxins contribute to dampness + internal heat

SWAP: choose organic when possible, non-gmo labels, esp. for corn, soy, & beets ( do nut use canola!) & focus on whole foods > processed

5️⃣ Chasing quick fixes > root cause
