Did you know...my Everyday Yoga Series for Fall and Winter of 2026 is a hybrid model!? This means that for every live session I run from the Grandview Heights Community Hall in (12603 63 Ave NW), there will also be a LIVE Stream. Not in Edmonton? No problem: this hybrid model allows you to follow along in the Everyday Yoga class from anywhere that has an internet connection. The Everyday Yoga Series begins this September for the Fall Sessions, and again in November for the Winter Sessions. I hope to see you there (or on Zoom!).

I celebrated when a client stopped doing the exercises I'd prescribed.

Maybe that sounds strange.

But after trying the movements several times and repeatedly experiencing more pain, the client made their own decision:

This isn't working for me.

They didn't wait for my permission.

That's important to me because movement isn't simply about following a prescription. It's a collaboration.

We try something. We notice what happens. We gather information. And sometimes we change course.

This week I'm writing about what happens when movement hits the mark—and when it doesn't—and why both can teach us something.

It also led me to think about another question I've been asking lately: Could yoga work for me?

We don't need to have the same goal to support one another in working toward our own.

I was reminded of that this past weekend while watching the Alberta Summer Swimming Association Provincial Championships.

Each swimmer had their own lane, their own race, their own goals—and their own successes and disappointments.

But surrounding all of those individual experiences was a team.

It got me thinking about the communities we move in and the value of doing something for ourselves, while still doing it alongside others.

That's what I'm exploring in this week's Letter from Lisa.

Every Thursday evening, someone usually says,

"I'm so glad I made it."

Then shoes come off.

Mats are unrolled.

The room becomes quiet.

For a few minutes, there's very little movement.

At least, that's what it looks like.

But so much is happening.

Breathing slows.

Shoulders soften.

Busy minds begin to settle.

Over the years, I've come to believe that before we move our bodies, we first have to arrive in them.

That's what this week's Letter from Lisa is about.

💗 If you've ever felt like you needed a place to simply pause for a little while, I think you'll enjoy this one.

🐻 Have you ever started seeing something everywhere?

You hear a new phrase.

Then someone else says it.

You read it in an article.

Suddenly, it seems to be everywhere.

That happened to me this week.

I was listening to a conversation between Brené Brown and Adam Grant, and one phrase from their discussion kept sticking with me:

"Just manageable difficulty."

Once I heard it, I couldn't stop noticing it.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized it's something I've been helping clients find for years—even though I hadn't been calling it that.

When it comes to movement, we often think we need to push harder.

But what if the real goal is finding a challenge that's just manageable?

Not so much that your body feels overwhelmed.

Not so little that there's no opportunity to adapt.

Just enough for your body today.

That "just right" amount changes with pain, stress, sleep, energy, recovery, and everything else life brings.

I wrote more about this idea—and why Goldilocks may have been onto something all along.
