The Hobby of the Month Art Collective The Hobby of the Month is an Edmonton based collective of artists and artisans with disabilities trying to earn a living wage.

Hobby of the Month is a large undertaking that will develop as it grows. Now available for sale in our Etsy shop is a founder's company, Eco Embellishments! Eco Embellishments makes archival quality greeting cards and tags with ecological and accessibility concerns in mind. Created by hand without the use of purchased patterns or embellishments, each design is truly unique to the brand. We repurpo

se and recycle everything from expired cosmetics to pop cans, glass and plastics. We have a policy of saving as much waste as possible, even the off-cuts from die cutting are saved for use in later projects. These cards look beautiful, but what if you have a visual impairment? All Eco Embellishments cards are made to be touched. Many are designed with texture and dimension to stimulate more of the senses. Try running a finger over our custom blended snowy texture paste and listening to the sound or feeling the hand made dimensional flowers. The product descriptions are also written with a variety of needs in mind. Every precise description is written to paint a clear picture of the each card so you know what you're buying whether you can see it clearly or not.

Here are some pictures of my biggest project to date! This steampunk tea storage box measures 8"×8"×3" and is made of wood. It has 29 hand made flowers, made from primarily recycled materials. On top, the box has a tag that can be standing upright or laid flat featuring a teapot pouring into a antiqued looking tea cup. The name placard is hand embossed recycled aluminum. Throughout the piece are dozens of gears, most of which are actually metal. Around the outside are four tea cups that have been hands dyed with four different kinds of tea.
