Falling asleep at 10 PM and waking at 3 AM isn't the same thing as getting five hours of restorative sleep.
Sleep disruption becomes common during the menopause transition, but that doesn't mean every sleep problem should automatically be blamed on hormones.
The pattern matters.
Do you have hot flashes?
Do you snore?
Do you wake gasping?
Are your legs restless?
Are you waking because of pain?
Did sleep change after starting a medication?
What happens during the day?
Those details matter.
