We talk to women every week who are frustrated with their skin and convinced they’re doing something wrong.

Most of the time, they aren’t. Skin changes with hormones, stress, sleep, and time, and it was never supposed to look the same every single day.

These are the things we find ourselves saying most often, to patients in their 20s and patients well into perimenopause. Save this one for the next time your skin has you second-guessing yourself.

That’s the line I hear the most, in one form or another. Women telling me they figured pushing through was just what perimenopause is.

It’s not. It’s what happens when nobody’s laid out the actual options.

So here they are. Bloodwork first, always. If hormone therapy makes sense for you, I prescribe and manage it myself, virtually, anywhere in Ontario. And if it’s not hormones yet, we look at sleep, skin, stress, because your body doesn’t file these things separately.

If your doctor said no or said wait, that’s not the end of the road. It’s just the wrong door.
