Somehow the second line on every expecting parent’s to-do list is “look into doula support”… and then it stays there for three months. 😂

If that’s you, hi. We’re Emily and Brittany.

We currently have a handful of birth client openings available this summer before our availability becomes more limited this fall.

Our goal isn’t to tell you what kind of birth to have. It’s to make sure you feel supported and informed while you have it.

Questions? Curious about what a doula actually does? Wondering if it’s worth it? We’d love to chat.

This week’s reminder that motherhood does not require perfection. It does, however, require caffeine, a melted ice cream cone (or 2), a bathroom birth cave, children who mistake sleepovers for endurance sports, and an alarming amount of patience.

Somewhere between the chaos, the crumbs, the late nights, the doula life, and the endless snack requests, we also managed another beautiful Mom Walk.

Turns out a lot of moms are running on the exact same things: caffeine, community, and sheer force of will. And honestly? That’s probably enough. 🤍

I don’t know how they expected me, a 30 year old teen mom, to know all of this?

Pregnancy is wild because one minute you’re googling strollers and the next you’re somehow expected to know everything about birth, babies, breastfeeding, sleep, car seats, postpartum recovery, and your own changing body.

Meanwhile most of us are just doing our best with 14 tabs open and a group chat on standby. 😅

If you’re a first time mom (or more!) feeling behind, unprepared, overwhelmed, or like everyone else got some secret handbook you missed, this is your reminder that they didn’t.

You’re allowed to ask questions.
You’re allowed to need reassurance.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
And you’re definitely allowed to lean on other people.

Which slide called you out the most? 👀

When people think of doulas, they often picture a giant bag full of gadgets, tools, and birth hacks. And to be fair… we do bring a lot of stuff. 😅

But after supporting births across Niagara, we’ve learned that the things that make the biggest difference usually aren’t in our bag at all.

It’s our hands offering comfort and counterpressure. It’s our voice helping someone find their breath again. It’s our intuition noticing when a room shifts, when a parent needs reassurance, or when it’s time to try something different.

The tools are helpful. The human connection is what changes the experience.

What surprised you most about what doulas actually do? 👇

We spend a lot of time supporting moms through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

And we’ve learned that almost everyone thinks they’re the only one struggling to keep up.

The only one with a messy house.
The only one serving processed snacks AGAIN
The only one overstimulated by the constant wrestling, touching, noise, questions, sports schedules, bedtime battles, and general chaos.

But if motherhood has taught us anything, it’s that “normal” rarely looks like Instagram.

Sometimes it’s repainting an old play structure because a new one isn’t in the budget.

Sometimes it’s a kiddie pool, a hose, and a backyard summer.

Sometimes it’s spending two hours putting a toddler to bed.

Sometimes it’s taking your kids out for dinner and spending the entire meal apologizing.

And sometimes it’s realizing that while you’re worried everything feels ordinary, your kids are having the time of their lives.

So here’s your reminder that you don’t need a perfectly curated life to be a great mom.

Most of us are just doing our best with cold coffee, limited patience, and a whole lot of love. 🤍
