Melissa Fraser Therapy & Wellness Holistic Psychotherapy For Women’s Health

Your mind and body aren’t the enemy, they’re sending you signals that life is out of rhythm.

Book A Free Consultation Today! I’ve spent my life studying the ways we carry our experiences—not just in our thoughts but in our bodies, habits, and the way we move through the world. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for decades as a holistic nutritionist and taught yoga and mindfulness, witnessing firsthand how emotions show up in physical form—tight shoulders, restless sleep, a stoma

ch that churns for no clear reason. The mind and body are always in conversation, even when we’re not listening. In therapy, I help clients tune into that conversation. I work with people who feel stuck in old patterns, disconnected from themselves, or weighed down by emotions they don’t fully understand. Together, we explore not just what’s on your mind but how it lives in your body. Whether through mindful awareness, breath, or simply learning to notice and name what’s happening internally, we find practical ways to help you feel more at home in yourself. This work is deep, but it doesn’t have to feel heavy. I bring warmth, curiosity, and a grounded approach to therapy—no jargon, no forced positivity. Just real conversations about where you are, where you want to be, and what’s getting in the way.

Getting “enough” sleep isn’t the same as waking up feeling restored.

For women balancing careers, caregiving, and the weight of invisible labour, the missing piece is often not simply more hours of sleep.

We need deeper nourishment, relearning to rest, and creating new habits that bring more ease within the noisy chaos of the world.

Last year, I went on my very first hunt… and ended up harvesting my first moose. 🫎✨

It was the last day, I was totally inexperienced, and yet, something in me spoke up. A quiet nudge to step away from the group, to trust my gut, and slip into the bushes. And there it was.

An easy shot, waiting.

It was wild, humbling, and honestly a little scary.

But it reminded me of this: when we listen to our inner knowing, life opens up in powerful ways.

Your body works the same way. Those gut issues, headaches, or aches aren’t random—they’re messages.

Clues.

Your body isn’t broken. It’s trying to get your attention.

If you’ve been pushing through symptoms or ignoring the whispers, my latest blog breaks down how to understand the wisdom in what your body is saying.

[🚨NEW BLOG ALERT]

Your body is not your enemy. It’s your messenger. And sometimes, those strange, frustrating symptoms are less about illness and more about the pressures you’ve been carrying silently.

What might happen if you shifted your focus from fighting and fixing your symptoms, and instead you got curious about them?

The Silent Walk 🤍

☮️ What:
-A form of meditation in action
-Our awareness and focus is on the experience of walking-not closing our eyes, or distracting with podcasts or music
-Taking in the wind, the sun, and the rain; and the sounds of nature and maybe the sounds of animals, humans or machines depending on where you are.
-Walking can make it easier to be aware of body than seated meditation. May help to get you out of your head and thoughts if they feel busy

☮️ Why:
-Because mindfulness doesn’t need to be practiced on a cushion.
-Walking, connects you to your surroundings, your environment, and the seasonal changes of the world around you.
-Mindfulness can help with developing greater awareness so that we can find deeper fulfillment and have a greater understanding of ourselves. -walking in silence encourages reflection. The pace of walking allows for space, insights and gentle processing of emotions and experiences.
-We are “re-collecting” the fragmented parts of our psyches, and reintegrating them into a whole.

☮️ How:
-Go outside
-Walk
-Pay Attention

🤍 no special conditions or equipment or attire required

🤍🤍 what happens if you see people… smile / wave… keep walking

🤍🤍🤍 notice how you feel

💛 Let’s talk about self-love for a minute.

So many of us think it means bubble baths, candles, or a spa day. And while those things can be lovely, self-love is often much quieter and more genuine.

It’s saying no when you’re already stretched thin.
It’s allowing yourself to rest without guilt.
It’s being kind to yourself when that inner critic shows up.
It’s choosing relationships that feel safe and nourishing.

Self-love isn’t a one-time thing, it’s a daily practice of treating yourself the way you’d treat someone you deeply care about.

What’s one small way you can show yourself love today? 💛

Feeling gracious and inspired to be spending the rest of this week leading 3 separate groups!

I spend most of my days seeing therapy clients from my home office and there is something powerful about working in a group setting that recharges my own batteries.

If you or your team could use a moment to reset, refocus, re-engage or re-inspire, I’d love to be a part of that and bring this work to your workplace or event. I have space for spring & summer sessions.

Grief is a natural response to loss... but just because it is natural does not mean it is easy. Grief can include some of the most intense emotions that we experience as humans.

Much of the details in this post have come from the Grief Recovery Handbook by John W. James & Russell Friedman. I would highly recommend this book if you are struggling with processing a loss.

If you feel like your coping strategies are no longer working or you have some unresolved grief that is feeling heavy or causing issues in your life, please reach out, you don't have to do this alone.
