For years, Choices, also known as Choices Too Services Ltd. located beside Salt Spring in Suite 107 on 109 McPhillips Ave, has been more than just a women's clothing shop in our community. Under the care of owner Yolande Leger, it grew into something truly special: a store that dressed our neighbours beautifully while also partnering with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) to provide meaningful support and opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities in our community.

This type of inclusive approach to a retail space does not happen by accident. It takes vision, heart, and years of steady dedication and Yolande gave all three. Whether you came in for a new outfit, as a supportive staff member, or both, chances are you felt the difference that Yolande's leadership made in our community. On behalf of everyone who has shopped, worked, or been supported through Choices over the years: thank you, Yolande. Your legacy of community, dignity, and care will carry forward in everything this space becomes next.

While honoring Yolande’s years of work and commitment, Gulf Islands Families Together Society would like to announce that we will continue to provide an inclusive retail space and support to individuals with diverse abilities in their employment goals. We will now host two locations, 152 McPhillips Ave, the home base location where we support neurodivergent individuals from birth to end of life along with their families, and 109-107 McPhillips Ave where we are thrilled to open the next chapter under a new name, the GIFTS Boutique!

We're honoured to continue this important work, and we want this next chapter to reflect what this community wants to see.
We Want to Hear From You!
Before we finalize what fills our shelves, we want your input. What would you love to see at GIFTS Boutique? Clothing? Home goods? Something else entirely? What is missing on the island? What is something that you can’t currently find locally and would love to be able to purchase? We're all ears.

Drop your ideas in the comments, message us, or email us [email protected]. This is your store too, and we want to shape it together.
Thank you for being part of this journey, from Choices to GIFTS Boutique, the heart of this community stays the same.

Is health important to you? Do you live on Salt Spring Island?
We need your voice!!
The last community health needs assessment for Salt Spring Island was completed in 2019. Since then, things have changed a lot. Salt Spring Island is a unique community with unique needs. Strong healthy public policy must be based on accurate and current data, so help us get that data!

Please use the QR code on the image/poster or copy and paste this link https://forms.gle/iheMyTR9APrtE9Ej9 in to your browser.

To honour your time you can opt in at the end of the survey to a draw for a local gift card of your choice. There will be five offered, in the amounts of $300 (2), $200 (2), and $100 (1).

All data that we collect will be reported back to the community in the fall of 2026. To do this work the Salt Spring Health Advancement Network is supported by the CRD and PlanH, BC Healthy Communities fund.

If you would like support to complete the survey or to book an information session with your group please reach out to Amanda Myers at [email protected]
