Babies and children have to cope with things they aren't equipped for. Our family history determines the kind of nervous system we are g

oing to grow. Our birth and first five or so years of lives influence our nervous systems. We will struggle in life where there is unresolved trauma until we see and feel a new way forward. Family Constellation work

Unresolved issues from the past may cause the heart to shut down. If left unattended, this disruption in the flow of love carries across generations, ripples into the shadows of the family landscape, often emerging as illness, emotional difficulties and broken relationships. A kind of "living map", Family constellations is a unique, phenomenological approach that explores these hidden dynamics that keep us from living authentic lives. It has the potential to touch us on a deep soul and energetic level, often healing past traumas and wounds and leading to a transformation in our lives and those around us. This work deepens the respect for the mystery of life and the forces that shape it. (William (Bill) Mannle)

Ortho-Bionomy® and how it works

The founder of Ortho-Bionomy®, Arthur Lincoln Pauls, D.O., described how it works this way: “Injury or disease result from what I call ‘misunderstanding’. Ortho-Bionomy® brings understanding to the person, so that he or she may respond appropriately, rather than by habit or fear.”

The miracle of the body and the treasure of information it holds for us seems limitless. One of the great joys in sharing this work is the self-discovery that takes place for the practitioner, as well as for the client. The nuts and bolts are that the body does have an operating manual, a language, if one is willing to listen. If the oil light comes on in our car, would we put tape over the light? However, we override our body’s messages all the time. Eventually it gets our attention, but by that time we may have forgotten where the problem came from. This is where Ortho-Bionomy® comes in and removes ‘misunderstanding from the body.’

The Founder of Ortho-Bionomy®

Arthur Lincoln Pauls was born in the province of Saskatchewan in 1929. He left Canada when he was a young man and moved to England, where he became a Judo Instructor, and subsequently a Doctor of Oseopathy. During this time he read an article by American Osteopath Dr. Lawrence Jones entitled “Spontaneous Release Through Positioning”. As the story goes, a man who had been suffering for months with lower back pain came to Dr. Jones’ office for treatment. He could not sleep at night for more than a few minutes at a time, and previous adjustments had failed to bring relief. Dr. Jones used cushions to make the man as comfortable as possible on the treatment table, and let him rest there while he worked on other clients. Upon returning twenty minutes later, he found that an excellent self-correction had taken place, and that the patient was almost free of pain. The Development of the Work

Dr. Jones went on to develop the manual therapy known as Strain/Counterstrain based on this experience. Dr. Pauls blended the Osteopathic principles of structural balance, the information received from Jones, and the energetic and philosophical principles of the Martial Arts to create Ortho-Bionomy®. He defined Ortho-Bionomy as meaning ‘the correct application of the laws of life.’ From the early seventies until his death in 1997, Dr. Pauls devoted his life to teaching Ortho-Bionomy throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia. The Principles of Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho-Bionomy® is often referred to as ‘the Homeopathy of Bodywork’ because the two modalities share the same principles. Both approaches:
exaggerate a pattern to stimulate the body’s self-healing reflexes (let likes cures likes);
use the smallest adjustment or dose necessary to bring about a healing response (less is more, the minimum dose);
may have an effect within minutes; and,
work on all levels; physical, mental and emotional. Working within the comfort zone of both the client and practitioner is one of the most important principles of Ortho-Bionomy®, as creating resistance and tension is counter-productive to healing. Practitioners lean to track the person’s energy and ‘go with the flow’. They follow principles based on respecting, honouring and accepting each individual’s inherent healing wisdom without judgment. Rather than trying to ‘change’ people physically or otherwise, the intent is to help them become conscious of what is going on within their bodies. This increased awareness helps them participate in their own self-correction, and enables them to regain their original patterns of balance and wellness. How Ortho-Bionomy® is used in a Session

During an Ortho-Bionomy® session, the client is fully clothed; the practitioner acknowledges the person’s areas of discomfort, and has the client give feedback during the release process to make sure that the work is comfortable. The gentle movements and subtle pressure used result in deep relaxation, and loosening of the tight muscles around restricted areas. Having been activated, the body’s self-correcting reflexes naturally bring the structure and energy back into alignment. Unhealthy tension patterns often resolve, while circulation, flexibility and range of motion increase. Rhythmic movements and isometrics or integrative exercises are used to help re-educate the body and reinforce the work. Benefits of the Work

Through Ortho-Bionomy® the body is literally learning, so that the cumulative results tend to be long lasting. Although one or two sessions may relieve specific symptoms, for chronic problems several sessions over a longer period of time may be necessary to release the body’s adaptive reacations, and re-educate it to a more natural and healthier responses. The outcome will be higher levels of wellness and resiliency within the body. This light-touch work is a unique system of body re-education for pain relief and self-healing; it teaches people to be more at ease physically and energetically, and may also produce changes in their attitudes and emotions. Conditions Which May be Addressed

Ortho-Bionomy® is gentle enough to use on newborns, and effective for pain relief for both acute and chronic states. Some of the many complaints that Orho-Bionomy® has addressed successfully include:
Neck and Back Pain
Scoliosis
TMJ Discomfort
Frozen Shoulder
Sciatica
Knee Injuries
Shock and Trauma Resolution
Rib Problems
Headaches
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
digestive problems
respiratory problems

What is Cumulative Grief

Understanding Cumulative Grief: The Weight of Many Losses
Cumulative grief is what happens when a person experiences multiple losses over time, without enough space, support, or emotional capacity to fully process each one. Instead of completing one cycle of grieving before the next begins, the losses stack, overlap, and intertwine.
Cumulative loss is not always about death. Losses can include:
Losing multiple loved ones in a short span
The end of relationships
Major life transitions
Illness — your own or someone you love
Loss of identity, abilities, or dreams
Traumatic events that shift your sense of safety
Collective grief — things happening in the world that remove a sense of normalcy
When these accumulate, the emotional system never fully resets. It’s like waves arriving before the last one has even receded.

Understanding Cumulative Grief Through Ray Castellino’s model of birth imprint work

Many people experiencing cumulative grief ask the same quiet question:
“Why does each new loss feel heavier than the last?”
Ray Castellino’s work offers a profoundly compassionate framework for understanding why cumulative losses are so hard to metabolize — and how healing becomes possible. Read the rest on my blog https://rhythmicwaveshealing.ca/

People often appear skeptical when presented with the idea that their birth experience could influence the rest of their life. Yet it’s a question worth sitting with: why do some people seem to flow through life with confidence while others live as though a catastrophe waits around every corner?

Ray Castellino, a pioneer in the field of prenatal and perinatal psychology, taught that our earliest experiences form deep biological patterns in the body and nervous system. These imprints can shape how we meet life — influencing our relationships, our decision-making, and our responses to change. One time I heard a man laugh as he told a story about his mother. Whenever someone asked her when something had happened — a wedding, a move, a birthday — she would pause and say, “Well, let’s see… Dad died in 1976.” He thought it was funny, how she used that as her calendar. But when I heard it, I didn’t hear humor. I heard the ache underneath — the way his mother had come to mark time by the loss of her love, as if everything in her life existed in relation to that moment.

Jaap van der Wal is a renowned Dutch embryologist, somatic educator, and researcher in the field of prenatal and early life development. He has focused much of his career on how the experiences of the fetus, from the earliest stages of gestation through birth, have a profound and lasting impact on the individual throughout their life. His work integrates insights from embryology, developmental psychology, and somatic (body-oriented) practices to explore the deep connection between early physical experiences and the adult the fetus eventually becomes.

Van der Wal’s ideas revolve around the understanding that prenatal and perinatal experiences lay the foundation for the body-mind connection, affecting not just physical development, but emotional and psychological health throughout life. Here are key aspects of his wisdom:

The Body Remembers Early Experience:
Van der Wal emphasizes the concept that the body “remembers” its earliest experiences, especially during the prenatal and perinatal periods. Here's the link for the rest of the short article

Phenomenology: means the study of how we experience things.

The idea is to try understanding things the way they show up in our minds, without jumping to conclusions.

So, phenomenology is letting yourself have your own experience by looking closely at what it's like to see, feel, or think something, without worrying at first about whether it’s true or not. It tells us to put our feelings ahead of a previous definition that’s been made elsewhere.

An example of phenomenology in action would be if someone were to give you a lemon.

A scientist might tell you, ‘This lemon has vitamin C, it’s yellow because of pigments, and it grows on a tree.’But a phenomenologist asks, ‘What is it like for you to experience this lemon?’

Phenomenology is all about describing these experiences just as they appear to you, without explaining them or analyzing them like a scientist would.

So instead of asking, “What is a lemon?”
Phenomenology asks, “What is it like to experience a lemon?”

I work largely in the world of phenomenology. Our daily live’s experiences typically come from deep within our biology. Read the rest of the article here to learn more about the value of learning in this way. https://rhythmicwaveshealing.ca/what-is-phenomenology

Grief can be tricky business, what to say, what not to say. It can be challenging not to offend someone because everyone processes their loss in their own timing and every relationship to loss is unique. What you can say three years into their process can be much different than what they might have been able to take within the first while after their loss.
Here some tactful and generally safe sentences to use. You can click the link to read comments that can be well intended but might actually be damaging. https://rhythmicwaveshealing.ca/things-not-to-say-in.../

What to Say
If you want to help, here are a few gentle things you can say:
"I'm really sorry for your loss."
"I’m here if you want to talk."
"That must be really hard."
"I care about you."
Sometimes, just being quiet and sitting with them is enough.

Welcome to Rhythmic Waves Healing

At Rhythmic Waves Healing, I help people rediscover a sense of peace, balance, and flow in their lives by working with the body, mind, and spirit. My approach is grounded in somatic bodywork, where I guide individuals in tuning into the sensations in their bodies to release stress and emotional blockages. By calming the nervous system, you can feel more centered and empowered to live life with ease.

In addition to bodywork, I offer evidential mediumship, which allows people to receive messages from loved ones who have passed. These sessions often bring comfort, clarity, and peace, helping to release emotional burdens and foster healing in both the heart and mind.

I also specialize in birth imprints and pre- and perinatal healing, working with individuals to uncover and heal early life patterns that may be affecting their well-being today. Our earliest experiences, even before birth, can shape how we respond to life, and through this work, I help bring awareness and healing to those early imprints.

By combining these healing modalities, my goal is to help you release tension, soothe your nervous system, and create more flow and joy in your life.

I work remotely, on line and in person

Breaking the Connection Between Addiction and Grief

The good news is that healing is possible. Understanding that addiction and grief are connected is the first step. Grief is a natural, human response. It doesn’t need to be “fixed,” but it does need to be felt. Talking to a health care facilitator, joining a support group, or simply opening up to a trusted friend can help someone process grief in a healthier way, although caution should be taken with who is trusted. Often times friends will minimize addictions because they are uncomfortable with it or simply don’t understand the pull and make the person feel inadequate because they can’t stop.

Addiction recovery also often includes looking at the grief underneath. By dealing with the loss — whether it's a person, a dream, or a sense of identity — people can begin to heal both emotionally and physically.

Grieving Multiple Losses Evidential Mediumship Grief
It is absolutely normal to still feel pain several years after experiencing multiple losses, especially if they were significant and happened in close succession. Grief doesn’t follow a specific timeline, and the process of healing can take much longer than we often expect, particularly with multiple losses.

In fact, it’s common for grief to resurface in different ways over the years. Feeling pain long after the losses occurred is not unusual.

Here are some reasons why the pain may persist after such a long time: Read the rest here https://rhythmicwaveshealing.ca/grieving-multiple-losses/

I love these words. It's nice to be reminded that self actualization can be endless and it's a good idea to just live and do things in our own timing, following our natural impulses. Some of us have a tendency to move fast, we just have to remember to pause here and there to catch up with what we missed or what was the point in having the experience? Sometimes it's good to sit with a skilled facilitator that can help hold space for the things that went fast and allow yourself to see hope in the cracks.
