Why do we need an MRI machine?

An MRI does not replace a mammogram.
Mammograms remain a key screening tool for breast cancer, while an MRI is used for specific screening for patients!

So, raising money for an MRI is about access to more answers, earlier diagnosis when possible & better care for our community.

This is amazing Goderich!

📣Exciting news! AMGH has officially signed the purchase agreement with Siemens Healthineers for the MRI machine, bringing the region one step closer to having this important diagnostic technology closer to home. The purchase follows months of planning to determine the right MRI technology and understand the space, workflow and operational requirements needed to bring these services to our hospital.

The next phase will focus on issuing the RFP for construction with the goal of breaking ground in the fall of 2027. Fundraising efforts will continue to build on this momentum and strengthen the financial foundation for the project.

We are incredibly grateful to members of the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation for their hard work in leading this campaign, and to everyone who has supported it and helped make reaching this milestone possible.

Now that our event is over for this year, the committee will be taking a much needed break before we begin our planning & fundraising for 2027!

*We will be hosting another golf tournament ⛳, which will take place on June 5th, 2027 - so mark it on your calendars!
*There will be a Save the Date sent out, prior to the sign up.
