Monday motivation hits different when it's also the first of the month. At least for me. 😋

I love a fresh start & believe there's nothing wrong with letting the energy of a new month motivate you to set new goals or recommit to routines that make you feel your best.

Yet, I no longer act on the urge (that still exists) to be "perfect" from now on. 🩷

Instead, I use Mondays + new months as checkpoints to see where I am with the goals I've set. Keeping the ones that still feel aligned. And letting go of the ones that aren’t the current priority (because that = wasted energy & feeling down on myself).

In my opinion, progress is only worth pursuing when it's sustainable.

So today, that looks like getting back to walks first thing in the morning sun + more yoga flows throughout the week!

Not a perfect day from start to finish (meaning I will likely still be up past 11pm tonight despite knowing better🙃).

My relationship with health has gone through a few phases.

When I stopped playing competitive basketball and started university, I lost the structure I was used to — and my habits weren’t great.

At some point, I decided I wanted to be healthier again.

But without really knowing what that meant, I ended up trying to do all of it.
Every habit.
Every rule.
Everything I thought “healthy” should look like.

The need for more knowledge is what led me to CSNN — where I learned that there’s more than one way to be healthy.

A healthy diet isn’t defined by one food, one meal, or one habit

It’s actually multiple factors that work together over time
• the types of foods you choose
• how often you’re eating them
• the variety on your plate
• how meals are combined
• AND whether you actually enjoy what you’re eating

This is why eating the same “healthy” foods every day isn’t the goal
& why labeling foods as “good” or “bad” misses the bigger picture

The intention isn’t to achieve all 10 components in a single meal, day, or even week
Instead, think of them as a simple check-in (not a checklist) to help you fuel better

Is there one area you could lean into a bit more right now, by letting go of another a little? 🤍

✨ Just a reminder: the scale doesn’t tell you everything.

It doesn’t tell you about your energy, your sleep, your digestion, or how you actually feel day to day

Your body is giving you feedback constantly,
Most people just aren’t taught what to look for.

Weight is just one data point — & often not the most meaningful one!

Health is more than a number 🤍

Health is ongoing.

It’s something that shifts as you learn more, experience more, & respond to your body in real time — not something you “figure out once” & stay fixed in forever (though wouldn’t that be nice).

What worked for you before may not always be what supports you now, & that doesn’t mean you were wrong.
It means you’re being present now & experiencing all that life has to offer — the fun part.

The “after” is never final. It just becomes the next starting point.

I used to always work out on an empty stomach because eating beforehand would make me feel sluggish or give me a cramp.

Fasted did feel better — technically.

It wasn’t until I started running longer distances (8km+) that I began eating beforehand and noticed I felt faster, stronger, just better overall.

The sluggish feeling I used to get wasn’t necessarily from eating too much — more so from not being used to fueling before movement.
Digestion needs support to work optimally — just like muscles that are trained over time.

I’ll share some of my favourite pre-workout snacks soon — if you have any go-to ideas, drop them below, I’d love to try them.
