Stepping deeper into my practice…🌿 Just got my new tools for work.
One of the Oriental Therapies I practice is Barefoot Shiatsu.
🌿 What It Is?
It is rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese bodywork.
Barefoot Shiatsu is an advanced form of therapeutic bodywork in which slow, intentional pressure is applied using the practitioner’s feet. Supported by balance and precision, this technique allows for broad, fluid contact that reaches deep into the muscular and fascial layers—without force, without strain.
Applied pressure
Works along meridians (Acupuncture- Energy pathways);
Practitioner uses body weight for deep, controlled pressure (Holds sticks for balance).
🌿 How It Feels:
Very grounding and flowing.
Clients describe it as:
“Deep tissue… but relaxing at the same time”.
This is not a rough technique—it’s actually deep, but broad and slow.
Less pokey than thumb pressure.
🌿 Benefits:
- Relieves deep-seated muscular and fascial tension;
- Improves mobility, posture, and structural balance;
- Supports circulation and lymphatic flow;
- Calms the nervous system and reduces stress;
- Encourages energetic flow and whole-body integration;
- Promotes a state of deep relaxation and restoration.
🌿 Feet:
Deliver deeper work;
Cover a larger surface area → more even pressure;
Creates a rhythmic, wave-like experience;
A new dimension of care I’m excited to bring into my sessions.
Enhancing precision.
Supporting deeper release.
Offering a more integrated experience for the body.
