Students will be starting school soon, and learning to take turns is an important school skill. When children take turns during centers, games, recess, and classroom activities, they practice patience by waiting calmly and fairness by giving everyone a chance. Taking turns also helps children cooperate and work as a team, listen to what others are saying, and follow classroom rules. These moments help children build self-regulation by managing their feelings and staying in control while they play and work with others.

Thank you to the amazing new teachers at Eagle Ridge Academy in Minnetonka, MN for an outstanding ENVoY classroom management training day. Your willingness to be vulnerable, reflect honestly, and learn new strategies to become the best educators you can be is truly impressive. The day was full of meaningful conversation, personal reflection, lots of laughs and practical tools to strengthen your effectiveness in the classroom. I’m grateful for the opportunity to return each year to train at this academy. The level of professionalism, visionary leadership, teacher coaching and support Eagle Ridge Academy provides is exceptional and among the best I have seen in North America. What an inspiring start to what I know will be a fantastic year.

With school starting in just a few weeks, now is a great time to help your child practice taking turns. Turn-taking builds cooperation and fairness in games and conversations, and it also helps children learn to wait, manage impulses, and handle small delays. Try playing a few simple cooperative games this month—these experiences can make classroom routines like waiting, listening, sharing materials, and working in a group feel much easier and more familiar.

Children should play impulse-control games because self-control is a skill that develops with practice. Games give children a fun, low-pressure way to practice stopping, waiting, listening, and thinking before acting.

Congratulations to Dr. Firouzeh Roosta and Dr. Zahra Afazeli of Iran on becoming Blomberg Rhythmic Movement Consultants. Over the past year, these distinguished professionals have completed six courses and have begun their case studies with outstanding dedication.

How fitting to sign the official BRMT contracts in Paris, France, at the Arc de Triomphe—a powerful symbol of triumph and a meaningful reflection of what they have achieved. Completing every course requirement over the past year with unwavering dedication and commitment, despite challenges, is an accomplishment to be celebrated and a testament to their perseverance.

Their work has deepened their understanding of primitive reflexes and the ways in which, if not integrated during the first years of life, these reflexes can affect learning, coordination, balance, crawling, walking, attention, emotional regulation, and stress. This foundation supports effective reflex integration across diverse developmental needs.

I look forward to advancing our collaborative case studies in the coming year, working with pregnant mothers as well as baby and toddler play groups, with a focus on applying BRMT to support reflex integration and foster healthy, peaceful living.
