This sweet girl has taught me so much. We picked her up from a farmer in Saskatchewan and her conditions where less then ideal. She was inside an old grain bin and had never been outside of that bin which we didn't know at the time. And I really question if there's more that we don't know about. She was so scared of everything in the outside world. She is very sensitive to sound, energy and stimulus and her nervous system is always in overdrive. Because of this it has been very hard to potty train her as she is so scared of sounds and the outside world. It's been slow progress and she is slowly learning to find some safety in the outside world.

She just turned 2 and according to standards people would say she is very behind. Part of that is because I am learning myself how to lead her in the best way and part of that is because she grew up In a traumatic environment. Her environment where she once lived has shaped how she reacts to the outside world now.

Trying to train her and help her overcome her fear has taught me so much because i can see alot of similarities to my own nervous system. She has taught me to lead with love and compassion instead of with annoyance and frustration because she can feel that and then shuts down into a freeze state. I've had to learn to lead her very differently then my other dog who is very balanced and did not have a traumatic upnringing.

When we look at people who have experienced trauma ( which, let's be serious, we all have in some way ) we need to gentle and loving and understanding. Unconditional love creates safety in the nervous sysrem in both people and dogs. So if you have been feeling anger at yourself for not being able to do the things you see other people doing, or resentment for how you react in certain situations, try and give yourself some extra love and compassion today and in the future.

She has needed love, patience, and time and I have found that's the exact same thing I have needed.

❗❗Moving forward I will no longer be offering reiki sessions! Something is shifting within me and I have no idea what direction it is going in!

Although I feel lost, I'm also really excited because I know this was just a stepping stone to introduce me into the world of energy and intuition.

At our next circle we will become aware of of the attachments and aversions we have. What are we clinging to and what do we push away?

Without awareness, these patterns can be shaping our lives underneath the surface. By bringing awareness, we create space for patterns to shift and life can flow rather then moving away from / clinging to certain outcomes or situations.

We will be starting with open shares and discussions, move into a Hatha yoga sequence, and end with meditation.

This was the first time I felt safe enough to truly hold myself through an emotional release.

Before this, I relied on others to help me feel safe in my body. In this video, I share what it was like to finally move through an emotion I had been holding onto for a long time.

I talk about the coming back into my body after a period of dissasociation. I also explore how “understanding” the situations we have been through, can sometimes become a form of bypassing—keeping us from actually feeling and releasing them.

Gratitude. Gratitude. Gratitude.

I am so damn grateful for my life everyday. I know that hardships and "troubles" will never be gone in life, but the framework I now have will forever be with me.

I experienced deep darkness for a very long time. Until 26 years old, i lived in total darkness. Abuse. Abuse of myself, abuse from other people, abuse of substances And as I tend to those parts of myself, and really look at them and see them and accept them, I feel so much for that girl who experienced those things.

Having lived that darkness, and experienced the contrast from then until now, I almost don't have words to explain it.

And although it was so hard to get here, I realize that what I went through is not just a bad experience or being dealt a sh*tty hand in life. It is actually a huge fu***ng gift that keeps on giving through this deep gratitude of simply just being alive here and now and actually being able appreciate that.

Our hardest most painful movements have gifts to give us. And to some, that may seem absurd, and truly crazy and that's okay. Each life is on a different path.
