Membertou has experienced two heartbreaking losses this week. We have lost two amazing women who touched many lives in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and all those who are grieving.

We invite women in our community to join us for a Women’s Healing Circle on Tuesday, June 2, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

This will be a safe and supportive space to come together, share, listen, and heal with other women. A light supper will be provided.

Whether you wish to talk, reflect, or simply be in the company of others, you are welcome.

In honour of missing and murdered Indigenous men and boys (MMIMB), the Membertou Interagency committee will be hosting a Walk on Friday, June 5th starting at the Membertou Police Station at 10 AM.

Membertou Mental Health & Addictions, in partnership with Circle of Care and YMCA Cape Breton, is hosting a Babysitters Course for youth ages 12 and up!

📅 June 13–14
📍 Membertou Health Centre – 40 Big Noel Ekel
🍽 Lunch provided
⚠️ Limited spots available

Participants will learn:
✅ Babysitting skills and responsibilities
✅ Caring for infants and school-aged children
✅ Child behaviour and safety
✅ Handling emergencies
✅ Basic First Aid and prevention skills

🕘 Schedule:
Saturday June 13: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Sunday June 14: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Participants must be at least 12 years old or turning 12 within the calendar year. The course concludes with an exam, and participants who achieve 75% or higher will receive certification.

Membertou Health Centre was happy to welcome Shareeve Gould for her placement with Dr. Power. Shareeve is a 1st year medical student from Eskasoni First Nation. Wishing Shareeve continued success in her studies and future career in medicine.
