Yay, we’re back!! ✨

The evacuation order for our area was reduced to an evacuation alert on Monday afternoon. We had an incredible rain storm on Saturday and more rain followed on Sunday which helped to curtail the heat, fire, and smoke.

We never really thought of it as being a privilege to access our own home but this summer, that’s the way it was for many folks in BC.

As we get back to life, there’s still an underlying feeling of uncertainty but this too shall pass. The Ainslie Creek Fire is presently at a much safer distance from us currently about 22.3 km away. This might still sound close to some, but it’s much better than the 2.5 km distance that it was only days ago.

It feels good to get back in the studio today and to begin processing your orders.

Well, here we are again. I didn’t post this sooner because I simply didn’t have the energy for it but today I do 🕊️

As of August 8th we were put on an evacuation order again from the Ainsley Creek Wild fire.

Summer is typically our busiest season with the gardens blooming full force, and the wild forging that we do annually, but this year things are shaping up a little different.

We are taking it day by day. Presently, our home is okay and we are okay. If anything, this has all been a major lesson on how to go with the flow through what’s in front of us on how to fully embrace the unknown

🔥When your Balm of Gilead finishes this smoothly, you HAVE to show it off.

We harvest cottonwood buds for this formula annually in March. From there we make a slow pace oil infusion that gently and effectively extracts the medicinal constituents that are found in the resin.

It’s always such a pleasure to work with cottonwood.

As we make this deeply nourishing formula, the aromas travel through the Earth and Soul studio and wrap around our home like a warm hug. Once we’ve completed alchemizing the infusion into our easily pliable Balm of Gilead remedy, it’s then ready to deeply soothe and nourish the body head to toe too.

This summer is taking us day by day. Things are changing constantly and we are living in the moments of uncertainty as presently as we can 💛

UPDATE: As of August 2, our area has been reduced to an Evacuation Alert. While things are still feeling unpredictable, this is a positive step forward. We'll continue to share updates as they become available. 💛

As many of you are aware, our home has recently been put on evacuation order due to the activity of the Ainslie Creek Wildfire.

While we continue to accept online orders, our processing and shipping services will be temporarily paused until the evacuation order has been lifted

We are incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our small business during this uncertain time.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the wildfires across British Columbia. We are holding all of the families, first responders, emergency personnel, and communities impacted in our thoughts, and we hope for safety, strength, and calmer days ahead.

🫐 This little berry picker was a gift from Scott long ago. It’s frequently used, but it has NEVER harvested a single berry!

🧚‍♂️ It has, however, collected many smaller flowering tops, such as cornflower and chamomile. This tool cuts down on harvesting time, leaves the young blossoms behind to mature, and is far more efficient than harvesting by hand.

I’d have to say it’s one of my favorite tools to use during harvesting season. 🐝

🪻There’s nothing quite like a fresh batch of Lavender Hydrosol. Especially one that’s been passed through a copper distiller to capture the soft, subtle, yet elegantly powerful aroma of Lavandula angustifolia, a wonderful plant grown right here in our botanical gardens.

We started these plants from seed a couple of years ago, and with a whole lot of love and sunshine, we patiently waited until this very moment to harvest, distill, and bottle the aromatic essence of this Fairy Godmother known as Lavender. ✨

☮️ We offer Lavender Hydrosol through Earth & Soul simply because we adore it ourselves as a family. In our home, it’s used as a cooling facial toner, an uplifting smudge spray, a room and body refresher, and it’s always a treat to add a mist to our pillows before we go to sleep.
