Singapore, here I come! šŸ‡øšŸ‡¬

I’m incredibly honoured to share that I’ll be delivering a keynote at the upcoming WSH Conference 2026 - this July (just a few months away)!

The conference theme, ā€œInsight to Impact,ā€ is deeply connected to the heart of my message, so you can imagine how quickly I jumped at the opportunity to be part of this incredible event.

For me, it’s about shining a light on safety in a way that inspires people to think about it differently than they ever have before… because when the way we think changes, the way we act can change too.

For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my story with organizations around the world - helping move conversations beyond compliance and toward cultures where people care louder, lead braver, and remember that no one goes to work alone… and no one gets hurt alone.

When safety becomes personal, it becomes powerful.

So grateful for the opportunity to be part of this life changing, live saving, global conversation.

Can't wait to see you there!

Happy National Safety and Health Week!

Do you feel like your organization could benefit from a impactful and inspiring virtual keynote that you can access within minutes and use with different shifts or for any special meetings planned for this week?

If so... great news! This year, I'm kicking things off for Safety and Health week launching my new "Step Up Your Safety" platform.

I'm sure you've heard me say that if you want to make safety matter, you have to make safety personal. Well, this week, I’m adding on.

We also have to make safety ACCESSIBLE & RELATABLE!

I'm so excited to introduce the Step Up Your Safety Store. Allowing you direct access to my on-demand video keynote that I have delivered all over the world... "It Could Happen to You"!

This 45 min on-demand video is designed to help you spark real conversations and strengthen your safety culture… RIGHT NOW.

With a few clicks you'll have a new tool to your box that you can use immediately with your team during National Health and Safety Week.

For this week only, instead of a 48-hour license, you’ll have access for the entire week, so you can watch it, share it, and use it as many times as you need.

This program shines a light on the real life impact a workplace incident can have. It’s an investment in your people, and the people who love them.

If you want to make it even more personal and impactful, you can also pair it with a live virtual Q&A session with yours truly!

This week, let's go the extra mile and do something different!

Make it Personal. Make it Matter. Make it Safe.

I'm here to help.

Happily,
Candace

Most young workers don’t think they’ll die on the job… but they do fear what could change how they look, how they’re seen, and how they belong.

It's exactly why we need to lay the foundation before job-specific training even begins.

We need to make safety PERSONAL if we want to make safety MATTER.

That’s where "Step Up Your Safety for Youth" comes in.

Following my recent interview with CTV News with Todd Battis, I’ve received an outpouring of messages... from employers, teachers, parents, even one grandparent!

Many shared that they remember the day I got hurt… where they were, how they felt - a reminder that the impact of a workplace incident reaches far beyond the injured worker.

And many more have asked how they can get involved. So here you go:

If you’re an EMPLOYER:
āœ”ļø Ask for it – you have a no-cost opportunity to recognize and reward young workers who take initiative in their safety education.
āœ”ļø Offer it – a fresh, modern approach that complements your existing training.

If you’re a PARENT:
āœ”ļø Educate yourself on the risks and hazards young workers are faced with every day.
āœ”ļø Encourage your young worker to complete the program (and ask to see their certificate).
āœ”ļø Talk about workplace safety at the dinner table—make sure they know their rights and that no job is worth getting hurt over.

If you’re an EDUCATOR:
āœ”ļø If you’re in or , the program is fully funded (thank you Service Hospitality Communications Team & WorkSafeNB/Travail sĆ©curitaire NB)!
āœ”ļø If you’re elsewhere, reach out—let’s explore how we can bring this into your classroom.

Summer job season is on the horizon.

Now is the time to educate, empower, and inspire the young workers in your life to STEP UP when it comes to safety.

Reach out to me to find out more about how you can become involved!

šŸ™ˆ DO YOU HAVE YOUR BLINDERS ON? šŸ™ˆ

Recently I was asked, ā€œWhere do I see safety blind spots today?ā€ It's a great question, however not one I've been asked in a while. I didn't need any time to think about my response, it was automatic, and from the heart - although I did take a pause to consider how speaking my truth on the topic would be received...

"Not creating truly inclusive spaces for LGBTQ2S+ people." was my response.

🌈 Inclusion isn't optional. Inclusion = Safety

It might feel like a cultural or values topic—but I believe it is a workplace safety issue. Because when people must hide, censor, or mask who they are, it erodes psychological safety, stifles belonging, and opens cracks for bigger harm.

When people feel unsafe being themselves:
🤫 They are more likely to withdraw, disengage, or remain silent when issues arise.
🫤 They may hesitate to report harassment or microaggressions (especially if they’re unsure they’ll be believed).
🤯 The stress of masking identity carries real mental and physical health costs.
šŸ™Š It undermines trust, team cohesion, and open communication—cornerstones of safety.

I say it everyday - "Sharing Stories Changes Lives". The more we know and understand about our fellow humans and teammates at work, the better equipped we are to protect them, and ourselves, building a stronger and more cohesive safety culture. Let's encourage narrative and visibility. Invite (not demand) stories from LGBTQ2S+ folks or allies, especially leadership, to normalize authenticity.

Remember: culture is the foundation upon which safety, performance, and trust are built. If people feel they must hide or pretend, we are leaving them exposed—to exclusion, burnout, mental health strain, and also to operational risks we can’t easily see until damage is done.

Inclusion has less to do with agreeing with how a person shows up in work and in life, and everything to do with simply respecting them.

šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ I believe part of building safer organizations is making space for every human to show up fully. I commit to doing that, and I invite you all to do the same.

Coming to a city near you? Let’s connect!

This fall, I’ll be criss-crossing North America - with a quick zip down to Australia - partnering with organizations that are passionate about cultivating a true culture of caring.

I work with leaders and teams to spark conversations that matter: leading braver, caring louder, and recognizing that safety isn’t just a policy—it’s a practice of courage and connection.

Together, we can build safer, healthier, and more connected workplaces—one conversation at a time... so let's begin the discussion!

šŸ“ If I’m in your city, let’s grab a coffee or connect in person! Send me a message—I’d love to meet while I’m in town! ā˜•

Some anniversaries are loud. Others are quiet.

This one snuck up on me... not with fireworks - but with barefoot mornings, sand between my toes, and a question I didn’t see coming:

Is the story I've been sharing from the stage, still ringing true in my heart?

This reflection took me from my camper van to childhood memories, from contemplation to an unexpected (and bizarre) text message on the eve of my legaversary that caused me to think deeply about how I define myself — and how I want the world to see me.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve outgrown the story you’ve been telling, this one’s for you.

ā€œWhat you said mattered.ā€

As a speaker, or as a human, there’s no greater feedback.

Seven years after working with Purolator Inc., I received a message from Chris Spanjaard, Senior VP & COO, to share that sentiment.

āœ”ļøā€¦..that calls to action like and work… and continue be used as part their daily language.

āœ”ļø... that team members who joined Purolator Inc. after my time with them understand the importance of creating a culture of caring that is continuous & consistent. This is simply (and only) because of the commitment of the team to build on momentum!

šŸ‘ Well done to all on the Purolator Inc. team for achieving record health and safety performance! Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this journey.

šŸ“£Extra Extra Read All About It!!šŸ“£

Step Up Your Safety for Schools has officially launched in New Brunswick — in partnership with WorkSafeNB and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD)!

Historically, safety education was limited to workplace-related courses. But here’s the truth: most youth are working — or soon will be. And many will enter jobs where safety isn’t a priority.

This program changes that.
Step Up Your Safety for Youth empowers students with the knowledge and confidence to speak up, protect themselves, and advocate for others — in the workplace and beyond.

My dream? That this NB model inspires provinces across Canada to follow suit. The time is now. Young worker injuries are rising — and prevention starts with education.

Congrats to everyone who helped make this happen. šŸ’„
