For the past 17 years, Josée has been helping patients across New Brunswick regain their ability to communicate, eat safely, and improve their quality of life as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the Extra-Mural Program. 💙

Working primarily with adults recovering from acquired conditions, she supports patients through assessment, treatment, and recovery, helping them rebuild confidence and independence along the way.

“I quickly fell in love with the profession,” says Josée. “I always knew I wanted to work in a field where I could help people. I just didn’t know it would be in a profession as varied and rewarding as speech-language pathology.”
For Josée, one of the most rewarding parts of the role is seeing the real difference that support and recovery can make in someone’s everyday life.

“Being able to radically transform the quality of life of a person affected by communication and swallowing disorders by supporting them toward recovery is incredibly rewarding,” she says.

Even after nearly two decades with EMP, her passion for the work is still going strong.
“It is an enriching job,” says Josée. “Even after many years, I am still passionate about what I do.”

Thank you, Josée, for the care, compassion, and support you provide to patients and families across New Brunswick. ✨

For more than 20 years, Cindy has been helping patients across New Brunswick stay mobile, independent, and confident at home as a physiotherapist with the Extra-Mural Program. 💙

From supporting recovery after illness or injury to helping patients maintain their independence, Cindy says the most meaningful part of the role is meeting people where they are most comfortable.

“I love meeting people in their own environment,” says Cindy. “I feel this is where we can have a great impact.”

Her interest in physiotherapy started early after seeing firsthand how mobility support could make a difference in someone’s life.

“When I was in grade 9, a friend of mine had some mobility issues that required the services of a physiotherapist and I was intrigued,” she says. “I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession and physiotherapy seemed like a good fit.”

For Cindy, it’s often the small wins that matter most.

“Sometimes even the smallest achievements can have a big impact on someone’s quality of life,” she says.

Thank you, Cindy, for helping patients across New Brunswick stay active, supported, and independent. ✨

As part of Ambulance New Brunswick’s Critical Care team, Arthur helps provide critical care transport for patients across the province by air and ground alongside Flight Nurses. 🚑💙

Over more than 15 years in paramedicine, he has worked in frontline care, education, leadership, and critical care transport, supporting both patients and fellow paramedics across New Brunswick.

“I was drawn to paramedicine because it is a relatively young profession with tremendous potential for growth,” says Arthur. “As a young adult, I made the rewarding decision to dedicate myself to a field that has continuously challenged and inspired me.”

For Arthur, the profession is grounded in service and teamwork, with impact that reaches far beyond a single call.

“The most rewarding part of the job is seeing the impact we can make with persistence and dedication,” he says. “It can come from direct patient care, but it can also come from sharing knowledge or experiences with peers, helping each other to become better together.”

Ultimately, he says, the motivation for entering the profession should come from a place of service.

“Don’t do it to be a hero. Do it to serve strangers on their worst days with competence, compassion, and quiet humility.”

Thank you, Arthur, for your dedication, leadership, and compassion in service to New Brunswickers. 🚑✨

We are investing in life-saving tools for advanced care paramedics in New Brunswick.

Starting this summer, Ambulance NB advanced care paramedics will be equipped with pre-hospital thrombolytics - medications that break down blood clots and restore blood flow to the heart during a cardiac emergency.

When every second counts, this means patients can receive critical treatment before they even reach the hospital.

As we mark Emergency Medical Services Week, we recognize the skill, dedication, and compassionate care provided every day by paramedics, emergency medical technicians, dispatchers, and critical care flight nurses across the province.

For the past five years, Julie has worked as a Primary Care Paramedic with Ambulance New Brunswick in the Moncton area. 🚑💙

Her path into paramedicine started long before formal training, shaped by early work as a lifeguard and surf guard in Prince Edward Island and later volunteering with her local fire department, where she discovered a strong pull toward emergency response.

“If you ask my mom, she would say it was a long time coming,” says Julie.

After years of building experience in emergency services, she made the move into paramedicine and says it was the right fit.

“I love my job! For me, it’s the best job out there,” she says.

For Julie, the variety of each day and the constant opportunity to learn are what stand out most.

“No day is ever the same, every patient is unique, and every day brings the potential to learn,” she says.

One of the greatest rewards of the profession, Julie says, has been the people she’s met along the way.

“I’ve had the pleasure since joining this profession of meeting some amazing people and gaining some friendships that I am constantly thankful for,” she says. “That alone makes it all worth it.”

“There is no better job for those who are meant for it,” says Julie. “If you think that’s you, go for it!”

Thank you, Julie, for your passion, positivity, and dedication serving New Brunswickers every day. 🚑✨

For the past two years, Michel has worked as an Emergency Medical Technician with Ambulance New Brunswick, supporting patients and communities across the province. 🚑💙

In his role, he provides care, stability, empathy, and comfort during interfacility transfers, helping ensure patients arrive safely for the treatment they need.

His path into EMS was shaped by years of community service, including more than 20 years working in maintenance at a nursing home and three years volunteering as a firefighter.

“What I love the most about my job is connecting with people and helping them feel comfortable during transfers,” says Michel. “It’s important that patients get from point A to point B safely for their treatment.”

For Michel, compassion is at the centre of every interaction.

“Every interaction matters,” he says. “By showing compassion and professionalism, we can make a real difference in someone’s experience and well-being.”

He also reflects on the perspective the role has given him.

“My experience as an EMT has taught me how important it is to maintain good health, as life can change very quickly and unexpectedly.”

As EMS Week is recognized across New Brunswick, Michel is one of many EMTs and paramedics helping patients every day with skill, care, and commitment.

Thank you, Michel, for your dedication, compassion, and service to New Brunswickers. 🚑✨

As a Care Coordinator with NB Health Link, Marie-Pierre helps support patients across the province by reviewing patient information, coordinating follow-up care, and helping connect patients to primary care services. 💙

After first working in a long-term care facility, Marie-Pierre says she quickly realized nursing was the right path for her.

“I immediately loved the work, the contact with residents and the fact that I could make a difference in their daily lives by providing care with respect and humanity,” says Marie-Pierre.

Today, she finds purpose in helping support patients who are waiting for access to a primary care provider.

“I find it very rewarding to contribute to a program that provides care to patients who are waiting for a family doctor,” she says. “Without this program, many of them would not have access to primary care.”

Marie-Pierre also says the teamwork within NB Health Link is one of the most rewarding parts of her role.

“On a daily basis, I work with a committed, motivated and highly collaborative team,” says Marie-Pierre. “Helping each other is at the heart of how we operate.”

For anyone considering a career in nursing, her advice is simple:
“If you’re thinking about it, go for it!” she says. “It’s an extremely rewarding profession that offers a wide range of career options.”

Thank you, Marie-Pierre, for the care and support you provide to patients and communities across New Brunswick. 🩺✨
