Manual therapy is not one size fits all. Different modalities of treatment exist for different purposes and different people. If you received a treatment before and saw no difference, don’t give up entirely just yet! You have to find your right fit: osteo, physio, chiro, acupuncture, massage, nutrition…
Also choosing the right therapist for you can change the outcome of the results. Most health care practitioners aren’t one size fits all either, it might take you some time to find someone you trust and vibe with, and that’s okay! At the end of the day, we all have the same goal of restoring function and improving quality of life, but not everyone’s approach will be the same.

A healthy lifestyle starts with a few steps : eating well, sleeping well & moving a little.

🍎 Nutrition accounts for a big part of our health journey, but you don’t have to be perfect. Keep in mind the 80-20 rules where 80% of what you eat should be healthy (veggies, fruits, fiber, good fats). Did you know the right food can help reduce inflammation in the body?

😴 Having a good night’s rest is one of the most important things for the body. It helps repair & regenerate muscles, improves the immune system, reduces stress and even lower risks of some health conditions.

🚶‍♀️Your body needs movement, even if it’s a small walk, 5 mins yoga or a whole-body workout. Motion is lotion they say!

💆 Last but not least, go get some treatment to put you back in shape if something occurs, or simply as maintenance to help prevent injuries and pain

As my due date approaches, I would like to remind all my patients that I am now on maternity leave. I am planning on returning to work in the spring. I will send an email to all my patients in the beginning of 2024 to let you know the details of my return. Until then, I will keep answering emails and questions!
Thank you for everything. 🥰🤱

I am absolutely thrilled to announced I will be offering my services at the amazing Ottawa Valley Vision in Pembroke !
Come see me 😊

Ottawa Valley Vision is incredibly excited to be welcoming an Osteopath to our team starting Tuesday March 22nd!

CALL 613-633-0734 or email us [email protected] to schedule your first appointment and start your journey toward wellness!

Pascale previously studied as a paramedic technician in Québec and graduated with honors in 2016. She later decided to undertake her osteopathic studies in Montréal, where she graduated from ENOSI Osteopathic School in 2021. She is an active and dynamic professional that loves a team-based approach; to be able to collaborate with others in order to provide the best and most efficient care to each person.

Her treatment approach begins with an in-depth assessment of your history and complaint(s), followed by different tests to help focus the treatment to your specific needs.

Osteopathy is a gentle manual therapy and involves a variety of techniques to offer the best course of action for each person. She has a deep love for helping babies and children but can treat anyone that needs pain relief. She also provides treatment in either French or English for your convenience!

🦶 Plantar fasciitis : term meaning pain at the bottom of your foot, caused by the inflammation of the thick ligament called plantar fascia, which goes from your heel to your toes. Many factors can contribute to foot pain.

What can you do at home?
😴 Rest
🥶 Ice
🤗 Stretch or roll a ball under the foot

But osteopathy can also help! Osteopaths look at other factors that may affect the fascia, such as the weight distribution in the foot and biomechanics of the foot, ankles, knees, and hips to improve tissue and joint mobility.

The piriformis is a small muscle, located deep in the gluteal region. Its primary job is to help with hip rotations. Right below it (sometimes through it depending on the anatomical variations) passes the sciatic. This nerve runs from the lower spine and courses through the pelvis and gluteal region, before running its course down the leg.

When there is tension in the muscle, it can cause compression or irritation of that sciatic nerve.

The results?
🔴 Nerve pain
🔴 Dull aches
🔴 Muscle weakness
🔴 Numbness
🔴 Tingling
🔴 Tenderness in the glute as well as the back of the leg (sometimes all the way down to the foot)

This is known as Piriformis Syndrome and can be mistaken for sciatica.

Prevention:
🟢 Warm up
🟢 Strength training
🟢 Flexibility & stretch, rest
🟢 Osteo treatment 😉

⏳ Inhale… Exhale…

When is the last time you took a few deep breaths?

Is anything painful or uncomfortable? Does it feel hard to expand the ribcage or relax the muscles on the exhale?

💆‍♂️Osteopathic treatment focuses on helping expand the ribcage, stretch, and relax all neck muscles. We also focus on the diaphragm (the MVP of breathing). By increasing spinal flexibility in the neck and upper back, we can optimize ribcage expansion, help with posture, and improve healthy breathing in order to prevent various musculoskeletal dysfunctions.

Try it out, and breath better ! 🫁❤️
