Choosing hospice or palliative care is not giving up.
For some people living with cancer, it can mean choosing comfort, dignity, support, and quality of life. Palliative care can, and often does, begin well before the final days of life.
Palliative care can help with symptom management, emotional support, important conversations, advance care planning, and ensuring that a person’s wishes, values, and priorities remain at the centre of their care.
There is no single “right” way to navigate this part of the cancer journey. Choosing care that focuses on comfort and quality of life is deeply personal and deserves compassion, understanding, and respect.
Hospice and palliative care can also provide important support to families and caregivers, helping them feel less alone while accompanying someone they love.
