Here’s what I will never tell you:
1. That you need to release your trauma to release the tension. Tension release doesn’t require reliving anything. You don’t need a dramatic emotional excavation — you need a nervous system that learns safety is available.
2. That you can meditate this away. Meditation is a wonderful tool, but the body and brain aren’t separate systems. If the tension is physical, the change has to include the physical.
3. That regulated means calm all the time. Regulation isn’t a permanent calm state — it’s the ability to move through activation and come back to baseline. Feeling something isn’t a sign you’re doing it wrong.
4. That this is just aging. Getting older doesn’t sentence you to more tension. Patterns compound over time because they’re repeated, not because of a birthday.
5. That it runs in your family, so there’s nothing to do. Shared environments and shared habits get inherited a lot more often than “bad backs” do. What runs in the family is usually the pattern, not the fate.
Your body isn’t broken, betraying you, or beyond your influence. 🤍
