π₯ STOP LISTENING TO POPULAR SURFACE LEVEL ADVICE and listen to your gut and your inner voice.
π π’π Why the hell do they keep telling us to be grateful???!!!
For someone who has , practicing gratitude was a struggle. But through life's challenges, a WILLINGNESS to change my negative thought patterns, and a ton of blood, sweat and tears, I've unlocked my own personal practice of gratitude that requires more JUST "writing down three things you're grateful for" every day ποΈβ
Everyone talks about gratitude π€ Theres the common ones you see in magazine articles and posts like, boosting mood, and reducing stress levels, blah blah blah, we all know π
To me, gratitude is a state of mind and an emotion that has the POTENTIAL of positive impact, not guaranteed magic as soon as you think it πͺ β
AND ITS NOT EASY...
When we're stressed, or happen to have a tendency of being stuck in a negative patterns (like me, when my ADHD thought cycling is going off the charts), we tend to hyperfocus on the obstacles in our path, rather than the blessings π₯π§¨πͺ
Studies have shown that there are more layers to gratitude as an emotion that might peak your interest: π
1οΈβ£ Trait Gratitude: Some have a more naturally grateful personality than others.
2οΈβ£ Gratitude as a Mood: The gratitude meter that measures how thankful you feel each day. And like all meters, this fluctuates.
3οΈβ£ Gratitude as an Emotion: a passing feeling...that warm feeling you get when someone sends you a heartfelt thank-you note. π
The level of ease, and how quickly we can pick up this practice to genuinely benefit us is based on the control of these three things, if not many more...
TAKEAWAY: π«π§ ποΈ
So keep in mind that starting a daily gratitude practice is great - but it requires extra effort into deeper parts of yourself for it to become a natural emotion, mood and eventually a trait, with a lasting impact on your life β€οΈβπ₯
