Founder's message: Why we do what we do⠀

Sometimes doubt sinks in and I wonder if what I've started is merely a vanity project or if it will actually benefit the world. Then I think back to my values and what has brought me here, specifically to this product... and my resolve is renewed.⠀
This is my why.⠀

1. Environment⠀
I believe there is nothing more important than taking care of the only pl

anet that is habitable to us. Even if there were other habitable options, c’mon, we live in the Garden of Eden! When I learned how devastating chemical sunscreens are to sensitive eco systems (not to mention our own bodies), I knew I wanted to do something. Even a tiny drop of the stuff can destroy miles of coral!⠀

2. Protecting Innocents⠀
Another thing that boggles my mind is how so many humans can’t see how sentient other creatures are and how deeply and physically they feel. From the smallest insect, scaliest fish, quirkiest feathered bird, to our closest relative, the primate family... they ALL feel pain, fear, love and desire. We torture them for “science”, for “fun”, for perversion, food, beauty or fashion. Just because we can’t speak the same language, it doesn’t mean they feel any different than we do - or that they don’t feel physical and emotional pain.⠀

3. Aging/Double Standards⠀
As a woman who has reached her “mature” years, I’ve been frustrated by society’s double standards. It's infuriating that men are perceived as “sexy” when they’re older (and they are), but women are considered useless and unattractive once they hit 40. No one wants to look old, but age happens anyway so we may as well embrace it. The more mature women I meet, the more amazed I am by their stories, their strength and through it all, their kindness... and YES how beautiful and sexy they are! How about we start celebrating these qualities instead?⠀

Maybe SPF skincare isn’t the obvious choice. But it’s what resonates with me personally and affects all 3 areas of my values. It’s how I feel I can actually make a difference - while living a life of my own design.⠀

Listen. Reflect. Reconcile.

I've always felt blessed to live in this beautiful land, but disgusted and horrified by how our ancestors so brutally took it from the people who already lived here. And for as long as I've been alive, I've felt a deep connection and affinity towards cultures who lived with a spiritual connection to the land and each other; cultures who respected the land and the beings we share it with.

As a Caucasian, it feels a bit trite for me to try and say what needs to be done to fix our ancestors’ wrongs. And unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to change the past. But I do agree that learning, listening, and being compassionate is a good step toward making peace with each other and ensuring that Indigenous people and their cultures can flourish in this land that was originally theirs.

Thank you to all Indigenous people for sharing your stories and providing the opportunity to learn about your cultures so we may all live together in peace in this beautiful place.

Did you know that many beauty products are considered hazardous waste?! 🤯 So if you're making the switch to natural beauty products, but still have leftover products, it's important to know how to dispose of them properly. This is especially true when it comes to SPF products. Many big-name brand sunscreens have harsh chemicals in them that are toxic for your body and devastating to aquatic ecosystems. Naturally, if you've switched to mineral sunscreen, you probably don't want to continue using the old chemical stuff. But you also can't just dump it down the drain. Instead, look for a local hazardous waste facility where they can make sure it's disposed of properly and safely so it won't cause any more harm. So many emotions from the recent roe vs wade trial by our closest relative country; disbelief, sadness, shock, anger, fear, disappointment, but mostly, disgust. This backward decision is mind-boggling. To our American sisters (and brothers), we stand in solidarity with you. We hope that most states choose to allow young girls and women the right to choose what they do with their bodies. And for those that don't, we hope that any unfortunate females caught in such a distressing situation are able to seek the safe help they need somehow. XO

WELL… this took far longer than planned, but I’m so excited to announce that we have finally launched our inaugural edition of The WELL Magazine!!

I'm so thrilled to have you here and join us on this journey!

We decided to launch The WELL as a way to help and inspire you to re-discover, and re-invent what it means to get older, stay healthy (in body and mind) and do so without causing harm to the world we live in and the beings we share it with.

Our small team was discussing how we could have the greatest impact through our business. Blog posts felt too random and social media, limited.

That's when we landed on this magazine-style format. We believe it to be an engaging, visual way to get our message across in a thoughtful, organized, and playful manner.

From The WELL, you can expect to enjoy inspiring interviews, insightful research, and of course a whole lot of fun!

Our topics of focus are on:

- Shifting the "agism" perspective
- Sustainability, fair-trade and cruelty-free living
- Experiencing life in a healthy, vibrant, joyful way
