People often think I help babies latch.

Sometimes I do.

But mostly, I help parents breathe again.

I answer the questions they have been carrying for days or even weeks.

I reassure them when they are doubting themselves.

I help them understand what their baby may be communicating and what could be making feeding feel difficult, painful, or overwhelming.

Yes, we may work on positioning.

Yes, we may assess latch, milk transfer, oral function, and feeding coordination.

But those are only part of the story.

My goal is for every parent to leave a consultation feeling more informed, more confident, and more connected to their baby than they did before.

Because milk matters.

But confidence changes everything.

Breastfeeding is often talked about in terms of milk, ounces, weight gain, and how long a baby feeds.

But it is also so much more.

During feeding, babies experience warmth, touch, rhythm, smell, eye contact, and the familiar presence of the person caring for them. These moments support communication, regulation, connection, and development.

A baby may come to the breast because they are hungry, but they may also come for comfort, safety, familiarity, and help settling.

This is why breastfeeding is not only about filling a tummy.

It is one of the first ways a baby experiences being understood and responded to.

And it does not need to look perfect to be meaningful. Every feeding journey is different. The goal is to help families feel informed, supported, and confident in the relationship they are building with their baby.

Because milk matters.

But so do the moments surrounding it.

Roshena Moledina, RN, BScN, IBCLC provides compassionate, evidence-informed lactation support.

Painful feeding is not something you should have to push through.

While some tenderness in the first few days after birth can be normal, ongoing or worsening pain during breastfeeding or chestfeeding is not something to ignore.

Persistent pain can be a sign that something needs further assessment, such as positioning, latch, milk transfer, infant oral function, ni**le damage, or another underlying feeding concern.

Research shows that pain is one of the leading reasons families stop breastfeeding earlier than they had planned. Seeking support early can help identify the cause, improve comfort, and support you in meeting your feeding goals.

At Lacta Consult, Roshena Moledina, RN, BScN, IBCLC provides compassionate, evidence-informed support to help families feel heard, supported, and confident through feeding challenges.

You do not have to wait until feeding feels unbearable. If something does not feel right, reaching out early can make a meaningful difference.

Pumping is not always as simple as turning on a pump and hoping for the best.

Comfort, fl**ge fit, pump settings, frequency, technique, and milk removal can all impact how pumping feels and how effective it is.

At Lacta Consult, Roshena Moledina, RN, BScN, IBCLC provides individualized pumping support to help families better understand what may be affecting their pumping experience.

Support may include assessing milk removal and pumping effectiveness, evaluating comfort during pumping, addressing pain or discomfort, and providing personalized fl**ge fitting to support optimal fit, comfort, and milk expression.

Whether you are exclusively pumping, combination feeding, building milk supply, returning to work, or simply trying to make pumping feel more manageable, support can be tailored to your goals.

Pumping should not feel painful, confusing, or overwhelming. The right guidance can make a meaningful difference.

You do not have to wait until baby arrives to start feeling supported.

A prenatal lactation consultation is a gentle way to prepare for your feeding journey before you are in the middle of the newborn stage. It gives you space to ask questions, understand what to expect in the first few days after birth, learn about early feeding cues, and feel more prepared for milk production, latch, pumping, and common feeding concerns.

This support can be especially helpful if you are feeling nervous about breastfeeding, planning to pump, have had a difficult feeding experience before, or simply want to feel more informed before baby arrives.

At Lacta Consult, Roshena Moledina, RN, BScN, IBCLC offers personalized prenatal feeding support rooted in evidence-based care, compassion, and reassurance.

Because feeling prepared can make those first days feel a little less overwhelming.
