The Dance of Spirits

In the quiet of dawn, the earth begins,
A pulse of ancient rhythm, soft within.
The wind whispers stories of times unknown,
Carried by wings that have always flown.

Through the veil of night, the light breaks free,
A symbol of life, in its purest plea.
The earth trembles gently, the skies rejoice,
In every flutter, we hear the voice.

A journey begins where the heart is true,
In the steps of those who knew the dew.
The past and present intertwine,
In the sacred rhythm, the spirits shine.

With each breath, we embrace the light,
And dance with the shadows, calm and bright.
The moon watches, and the stars align,
As we walk the path, both yours and mine.

The journey endures, a circle unbroken,
With each step, a promise unspoken.
Through the winds, the spirits glide,
In the dance of life, we walk side by side.

“Stop gaslighting yourself into thinking you’re lazy, when you’re really exhausted AF from the trauma and grief you’ve endured.”

- Dr. Jen via Twitter

Rest. Buy yourself flowers. Eat fresh fruit (the brain runs on glucose). Take a walk. Focus on taking in only those things which awaken your soul. Soak in a tub filled with flower petals, essential oils and mineral salts. Have a weekend blackout on all things media. Surround yourself with the provocation of all things sensual; soft, decadent fabrics, whatever moves your Spirit; music that you love, scents that enthrall you, books that feed your enthusiasm, beautiful art.

FILL YOUR LIFE AND SOUL WITH BEAUTY

Just for this week, be the bee settling on all of the best flowers.

Love yourself deeply, and remember who and what you really are.

Then one day she disappeared. She closed the gate on the haters, the users, the bullies and those who don't get her. She retreated to heal the hurt and purge the pain.

I miss her smiling presence, her beautiful poetry, her gentle heart and her take on living a positive, peaceful life.

She now finds her strength in silence and her voice in nature, but every once in awhile in the middle of life's loudness, I hear her whisper and I know she's here with me.

In her quiet way, she continues to heal the world as she re-purposes herself.

It's who she is ... a gentle force in a harsh world, a balm of beauty, a weathered heart with an irrepressible spirit.

So, I send her my love and I know somewhere in the heart of stillness we are together. Jody Doty

She Walks Wrapped in Star Medicine

She walks beneath the ancestor sky,
wrapped in a robe of constellations,
where every bead is a memory
and every feather remembers flight.

Night opens before her
like a sacred doorway.
The moon waits—
round and listening—
an old grandmother of light.

Her footsteps touch the stone path softly,
as though she does not wish
to wake the sleeping prayers
buried in the earth.

But the earth already knows her.

It knows the daughters
who carry sorrow as wisdom.
It knows the women
who keep fire alive through silence.

Her shawl holds galaxies.
Stars stitched by unseen hands.
Dreams sewn beside mourning.
Old teachings hidden in color.

She wears her ancestors
upon her shoulders.

And as wind moves through her hair
the old ones gather—
not as shadows,
but as moon-breath,
as wildflowers bending,
as spirit voices in the dark.

They whisper:
Daughter, walk toward the sacred.
The stars are not above you alone—
they live within you.

She pauses.
Listens.
And hears drums
inside the heartbeat of the night.

The path before her
is not only stone.
It is lineage.
It is remembrance.
It is the road every soul walks
toward becoming whole.

Her robe glimmers
like the living sky itself,
and she seems less woman now
than prayer moving.

Moon daughter.
Keeper of star medicine.
One who carries the old songs
without speaking them.

The flowers at her feet bloom brighter
as she passes.
Even the dark listens.

And high among the star fires
the ancestors lean close
to offer one final teaching:

Do not fear the long night.
It is where spirit learns to shine.

Then she walks onward,
wrapped in sky,
guided by grandmothers,
carrying a people’s memory
like constellations in her blood.

And the moon whispers after her—

Those who remember where they come from
never walk alone.

For centuries, gifted women have been persecuted for channeling mystical powers men could not comprehend. But these women were lightbearers - their legacy still relevant.

The word "pythoness" comes from the ancient Greek "Pythia" - the high priestess at the Temple of Apollo in Delphi who served as the Oracle. The Pythia would channel Apollo's prophecies while in an ecstatic trance state, offering guidance to seekers.

The Pythia exemplified the sacred feminine ability to act as mediator between spiritual realms, decoding messages for the enlightenment of humanity. Her title honored feminine power to tap source energy and live from the intuitive.

Once a revered female oracle in ancient Delphi, communing with spirit to offer prophecy and wisdom, the early church recast women with second sight as dangerous agents of the devil. Poor Margery was likely a cunning woman or psychic healer engaging forces misunderstood in medieval times.

In my portrait of the Pythoness, she gazes calmly into an ethereal sphere of glowing light as the cosmos surrounds her. She represents feminine power to traverse inner and outer realms. Having her image in sacred space pays homage to forgotten seers, reminding us to embrace our own intuition and magic today.

As woman, each of us contains the capacity for vision, connection to source, and healing. Yet we have been taught to fear power not originating from external authority. What universal truths might women access if we released these limiting beliefs? Reclaiming her image today reconnects us to the sacred purpose of mystical vision. The pythoness teaches spiritual sovereignty - direct access to divine wisdom, unbound by any institution. Her story celebrates the seer in us all, as we each steer our own sacred vessel fearlessly charting courses beyond earthly rules. With her as guide, we too can journey far, if we dare to see.
