A child who arrives at school already exhausted from a night of disrupted breathing is being asked to focus, retain information, and regulate their emotions, all while running on empty.

Mouth breathing during sleep reduces the quality of rest the brain receives overnight. Without deep, restorative sleep, children can struggle with attention, emotional regulation, and memory, challenges that are often mistaken for behavioural issues or learning difficulties.

The signs aren't always obvious. A child who breathes through their mouth at school, who seems chronically tired despite early bedtimes, or who has been described as inattentive or easily frustrated may simply be a child whose breathing needs support.

Addressing the root cause can change not just how a child sleeps, but how they show up in every area of their life.

Has your child's teacher ever mentioned concerns about focus or attention? We'd love to hear your experience below.

As a parent, you notice things. The restless nights. The mouth hanging open. The tiredness that doesn't make sense after a full night in bed. You've asked the questions, now there's a program designed to help you find real answers.

The Children's Myofunctional Therapy Program is a 6-month, self-guided coaching experience built to support healthier breathing patterns, better sleep, and proper development, with expert guidance every step of the way.
It's structured, it's supported, and it's designed to fit into real family life, with follow-along videos that free up your time and a private community of parents walking the same path.

Because the earlier breathing patterns are addressed, the greater the opportunity to support your child's growth in a meaningful, lasting way.
Is your child showing signs of disrupted breathing or restless sleep?

Many of the people I work with didn't come to me because they thought they needed myofunctional therapy.

They came because they were tired.
Or frustrated by snoring.
Or waking with headaches.
Or dealing with jaw pain that just wouldn't go away.

What they discovered was that these symptoms weren't isolated. They were connected through breathing, oral function, and airway health.
If you've been searching for answers and still feel like you're only treating the symptoms, a consultation is a great place to begin.

Together, we'll look at your concerns, discuss your health history, and explore whether your airway, breathing patterns, or oral muscle function could be contributing to what you're experiencing.
There's no pressure and no obligation, just an opportunity to better understand your body and what it may need.

Sometimes clarity is the first step toward lasting change. I'd love to help you with that! Book your consultation today and let's start the conversation.

Melatonin has become the go-to solution for sleep struggles, and for some people, it genuinely helps. But for others, no amount of supplementation addresses the real issue: what's happening to breathing once they actually fall asleep.

When the airway is compromised during sleep, the body activates a stress response to protect oxygen levels. That stress response, a brief arousal from deeper sleep, happens quietly, repeatedly, and often without any conscious awareness. Melatonin can help you fall asleep. It can't keep you there if your airway keeps pulling you out.
Addressing the root cause of disrupted sleep means looking beyond sleep hygiene and supplementation to what's actually happening in the body overnight.

Have you ever tried sleep supplements without getting the results you were hoping for?

You've addressed the sleep. You've managed the stress. You've tried the mouth guard. And yet something still feels off.
This is one of the most common experiences people share when they first come to us, a history of addressing individual symptoms without ever finding lasting relief. Not because the treatments were wrong, but because the underlying pattern was never fully identified.

The body doesn't work in isolated parts. The jaw affects the airway. The airway affects sleep. Sleep affects the nervous system, hormones, energy, and mood. When we treat each symptom as its own separate problem, we miss the thread that connects them.

A whole-system approach changes the question from what do I treat next to what is actually driving all of this, and that shift is often where real, lasting progress begins.

Have you ever felt like you were managing symptoms without ever getting to the root of them?

During sleep, the muscles that support the airway naturally relax. For most people, the airway remains open enough to breathe comfortably. But for many others, that relaxation creates resistance, and the body quietly struggles all night to compensate.

The tongue may fall back. The jaw may shift. The soft tissues of the throat may vibrate or partially collapse. Each of these is the body adapting in real time to maintain oxygen flow, but each one also costs something: a lighter sleep stage, a stress response, a morning that starts in deficit.

Understanding what happens to your airway during sleep is the foundation of understanding why you feel the way you do when you wake up.

Do you wake up feeling genuinely rested, or does sleep feel like something that happens to you rather than something that restores you?

Jaw discomfort has a way of becoming background noise. The clicking you've learned to ignore. The tightness you assume is just stress. The headaches you've been told to manage.

But these aren't random symptoms. They're often the jaw's way of signalling that something in the system, breathing, posture, oral function, is placing more demand on the joint than it can comfortably handle.

Understanding what's driving your jaw symptoms is the first step toward addressing them at the root rather than masking them at the surface.
Curious about what's really behind your jaw tension?

I know there’s understandable concern about children doing random oral exercises online. I share that concern.

My channel is not designed to diagnose, prescribe treatment, or replace individualized myofunctional therapy.

Instead, every video is intended to be used alongside your treatment plan.

Think of Myo as another friendly face helping reinforce the exercises you’ve already selected.

Children often learn best through play, repetition, and familiar characters. If Myo can make home practice something they actually look forward to, then we’ve all won—especially the child.

Parents- Work with your myofunctional therapist but follow along with Myo & Me.

If you don’t correct the pressure that contributed to narrow palate, you will have an Appliance pushing outward…. But cheeks pushing inward.
That is counter intuitive, and stalling your progress.
This is why clients get through braces faster, (and even skip whole sections of their treatment plan) when they do myofunctional therapy with ortho!
