BEST NEWS EVER! 🥹💚
So many happy, overwhelming tears right now. My hands are literally shaking as I type this. We hit Mom’s 1 year transplant anniversary on June 4th and her recent biopsy results are officially a miracle:
* Very little inflammation
* Zero scarring
* NO recurrent PBC!
The weight of the past year didn’t hit until the surgeon called today. Being her primary caregiver this past year meant always trying to be the strong one even when I was secretly breaking down inside and terrified of what they might say next. Hearing the surgeon deliver that news completely took my breath away. It was the greatest relief of my life. All that built up anxiety turned into pure joy.
We are also forever grateful to the incredible transplant team at Toronto General Hospital for their world class care and dedication to saving Mom's life.
The hard part is finally behind us. You are safe, Mom. Beyond proud of your strength and bravery through all of this. Your liver is flawless and thankfulness is an understatement. Endless gratitude to the anonymous donor whose selfless, life saving gift made this day possible.
To our supportive family that was there, our amazing friends and everyone who stood by us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Especially the stranger, now a dear friend, who put on a fundraiser for Mom and poured her heart into it in memory of her husband’s own battle with liver disease, all in the hope of finding Mom a donor. Your heartfelt generosity gave us the strength to keep fighting. We share this miracle with each and every one of you.
Love you and forever by your side, Mom. 💚
