I cannot think of a more incredible way to celebrate and mark the anniversary of the launch of 🍾❤️ This was such a challenging year and I am so proud to have been able to help my friends and my community. I am truly honoured by the kind words and humbled that so many folks found my contributions worthy enough for a nomination. I’ve said it before but I could not have pulled off any of my projects, especially rocks box, without the help and support of so many. I appreciate you all so much and I hope this buys me a little credit when I call you about my next crazy idea! See what I did there - get ready 🤪🍾❤️
I will have a much, much longer thank you post very soon! Stay tuned! !

💸💸💸 With full lockdown behind us again I was finally allowed out of the house to deliver the proceeds of project light it up campaign to Ang at the - remember way back in December when we covered the museum in Christmas lights and flipped the switch for all to enjoy? Thanks to the generosity of our community that brought in a whopping $2,505 in donations while shining a light on our awesome little museum. The museum will be reopening on March 11 for the first time since it closed last March as a result of the pandemic! 👏🎉

Christmas is a bit of a struggle for me. But with Rocks Box wrapping up on Christmas Eve there was an abundance of warmth to help carry me through. I am grateful for the outpouring of love from business owners who found time in their own bursting schedules to visit me and tell me that I made a difference for them this year. I am also grateful for the many emails from folks beyond pleased with their deliveries. That makes me so happy!

Even more so, I am grateful for those who helped to make this project amazing.

First, I have to express my eternal gratitude to Thunder Pig. (I promised I would say that somewhere in the course of this project). Ryan handles all our web without much complaint and he and Katie have become the sounding board for all things Rocks Box, and really truly amazing friends. ⚡️🐽

Next is mom aka Anne Matthews. She has packed all varieties of Rocks Box including her own Mother’s Day Box I think. She keeps the packing room running smoothly, finds all my mistakes and acts as my buffer when I start to lose my mind after 36 or 72 or however many hours of round the clock efforts. ❤️

Sue Finnie packed this round for the first time and brought such a fun and festive spirit to the room. She also coordinated the lions delivery schedules like a total pro, ensuring your box made it to your door at least most of the time 🤪

With Rocks Box, the businesses carry at least some of the weight for packing, delivering and so on, so I don’t drown trying to juggle it with my own job. This doesn’t always work out, I usually drown 🤣, but there are a few that have been so supportive and appreciative and do everything in their power to keep the hiccups to a minimum, make sure I’ve eaten something, and hustle to fix my mistakes. Thank you , .m.libertygirl

We would not have a place to pack without the generosity of Pam and Andrew .
We would not have a brand at all without the creative support of

Cheers to the folkin’ women who are always in my corner.
And Leslie and Karen who delivered a pile of boxes just for fun! 🙏

And.....That’s a wrap! 🎄❤️

300 boxes packed and delivered in time for Christmas. That’s 2030 products bought locally to support our shops and restaurants at full retail prices, packed into lovely festive bags and on your doorstep or your friends doorstep during a time of stress and uncertainty.

That’s also $38,639 more dollars invested here in our community this holiday season.....bringing us to a GRAND TOTAL of (🥁🥁🥁) $111,273 since the beginning of the pandemic 👏🤩

That total includes a detour to help out the legion’s poppy campaign to the tune of $2635 and our project light it up campaign to shine a light on the with $2065 raised so far!

Dover Rocks Box as a project was both truly incredible and humbling at the same time. I was asked today why I would bother to do this. I wasn’t sure how to answer. On the one hand, I was exhausted and I thought, yeah, good question. On the other hand, it seemed so obvious to me that I thought the question must be a joke. I’ve spent a lot of my life volunteering but this project made the point of it vividly clear, more than any other project I have been a part of, and that point is community. From the very first post, to the very first sale and right up until the last box was delivered today, it brought people together. It spoke of support and friendship during hard times, it had businesses working together to weather a storm, it had a town spending to keep local shops afloat. It carried beautiful messages between people isolated from one another. So no matter how exhausting, heartbreaking sometimes, it was so worthwhile.

Thank you for supporting my project. Thank you for buying boxes and cheerleading and sending nice notes of encouragement. Thank you for loving your boxes and posting pictures of your favourite treats. And thank you for the lovely messages you would ask me to include in my own handwriting even though there is little chance anyone could ever read them. Thank you for sharing posts and writing stories in the paper and showing everyone that here in Port Dover we pull together and we lift each other up. ❤

Have a safe and very merry Christmas.

We were feeling the pinch for packing this morning, with 60 boxes to get wrapped up and out the door in record time...then in swooped a very mayoral elf just in the nick of time. And she brought coffee. Thanks for giving us a hand, Kristal! 🤩☕️
