From the forest trails to the campfires, from celebrations to saying farewell to loved ones who earned their wings 🕊️ — August gave me memories I will carry with me forever.

Grateful for the land, the lessons, the love, and all the little moments in between. 💚

Another successful day catering for the Métis Community Association! 🥰

Today’s menu was a crowd favourite — hearty taco soup, grilled cheese, and ham & chicken sandwiches 🥪😋

This weekend I am catering for the metis community association for an event they are having and this was tonight's dinner .... Homemade fried bannock full loaded tacos!!! Was a hit and very filling!!

Did you know False Solomon’s-seal has THREE edible stages throughout the year? 🌿

From spring to fall, this beautiful woodland plant changes with the seasons:

🌱 Early spring: The young sprung shoots can be harvested when tender and are often compared to asparagus with a fresh, wild flavour.

🌸 Early summer: The delicate flowers appear, adding beauty to the forest and attracting pollinators.

❤️ Late summer into fall: The berries ripen into clusters of bright red jewels! These berries make an amazing juice, jelly, and wildcrafted treats with a unique flavour.

One of my favourite things about foraging is learning how plants provide in different ways throughout the seasons. The forest isn’t just a place to pick — it’s a place to observe, respect, and build a relationship with. 🌲✨



Small note: only harvest plants you have correctly identified, as False Solomon’s-seal can be confused with other woodland plants.

Behind every basket of wild harvests is a whole little world working hard alongside me. 🌿🐞

While I’m out foraging, I’m never alone… the forest is buzzing, crawling, flying, and moving with life. From tiny insects resting on leaves to creatures busy doing their important jobs, every encounter is a reminder of how connected everything is in nature.

These little workers are part of the ecosystem that keeps our forests healthy — pollinating, breaking down, feeding other species, and helping the wild places I love continue to thrive.

Foraging isn’t just about what I bring home… it’s about slowing down, observing, and appreciating the incredible world around us. 🌲✨

Nature always has a story to tell — sometimes you just have to look a little closer. 🐝🕷️🦋
