Functional Healing in the Kitchen - episode 4 π
ππ« Chanterelle mushroom processing day! ππ«
I love mushrooms but holy moly they take a long time to clean!
While I worked, I sprinkled in some leg pendulum swings, calf raises, 4 point rocking, balance work (my very modified kitchen-counter version of tree pose π) and some cat/cow stretches while leaning into the counter. Nothing fancy and nothing that required stopping what I was doing for very long. Just little bits of movement woven into the hours I was already spending cleaning mushrooms.
And then, at one point, I decided my body needed a proper break.
So I went outside, ate a huckleberry lemon ginger popsicle and enjoyed a few minutes in the fresh air with my dog who also got a frozen treat to enjoyβ¦ of the chicken bone broth varietyβ¦ because apparently laying around and looking cute is hard work too! πΎπ§‘
It took FOREVER to get all those chanterelles cleaned and ready for the dehydrator, but I will appreciate my stash over the next year when I am eating many delicious dishes. And right now my house smells absolutely amazing... like slow roasted caramelized apricots!
Functional Healing is all about recognizing that the hours you're already spending doing the things you need to do can become opportunities to move, stretch, balance, breathe and take care of yourself... with popsicles! π€ͺ
π Functional Healing Tip this week: Take a lesson from mycelium... stay connected, stay adaptable, keep moving.
