Do you know what your body is trying to tell you?

Waking up at the same time every night may not be random. It could be a pattern worth noticing.

In TCM, waking between 1–3 a.m. is often viewed alongside the Liver system—especially if you’ve also been feeling stressed, emotionally tense, mentally busy, or experiencing tired eyes.

The time you wake up is only one clue. Your sleep pattern, emotions, energy, and daily habits help us understand the bigger picture.

Which one best describes your sleep lately?

A|I sleep through the night
B|I wake up but fall back asleep easily
C|Once I wake up, it’s hard to fall asleep again
D|My sleep is light and I dream a lot

Comment A, B, C, or D below 👇
We’ll talk about the most common answer in our next Reel.

We’re growing our Richmond clinic team.

We’re currently looking for a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and a bilingual Front Desk team member to join Shaun’s Zen.

The way people experience care is shaped by more than what happens in a treatment room. It’s also shaped by how they’re welcomed, communicated with, supported, and cared for throughout their time with us. That’s why we’re looking for people who value thoughtful service, clear communication, collaboration, and a genuine interest in health and wellbeing.

Both roles offer the opportunity to work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team in an environment rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern wellness.

For full details on both roles, visit Link in Bio → Open Roles.

To apply, send your resume to [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

UPDATED: Bilingual Front Desk start date Oct 13th.

We’ve all heard that gut health affects digestion.
But what if it also influences your muscles, energy, and mental clarity?

Traditional Chinese Medicine has believed this for thousands of years.

In TCM, the Spleen is much more than the organ defined in Western medicine. It represents the body’s digestive and nutrient-transforming system, responsible for turning food into the energy and nourishment that support your muscles, limbs, and overall vitality.

When Spleen function is strong, you may experience:

✓ Stronger muscles
✓ Better energy in your arms and legs
✓ Faster recovery after exercise
✓ Less physical fatigue

But here’s what many people don’t know.

In TCM, the Spleen doesn’t just support your muscles—it also supports your mind.

The Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic) states:

“The Spleen stores Yi (Intention).”

In TCM, Yi refers to our ability to think clearly, concentrate, remember, and process information.

When the Spleen is weakened, you may notice more than just physical tiredness. You might also experience:

• Difficulty concentrating
• Brain fog
• Poor memory
• Feeling mentally scattered
• Overthinking with little mental energy

So the TCM perspective isn’t:

“All brawn, no brains.”

Instead, it’s this:

A healthy digestive system supports both a strong body and a clear mind.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, taking care of your digestion isn’t just about your stomach—it’s about nourishing your muscles, sustaining your energy, and supporting the mental clarity you rely on every day.

💬 Which one sounds most like you lately?

① Low energy or weak limbs
② Slow muscle recovery or frequent soreness
③ Brain fog or trouble concentrating
④ All of the above 😅

Comment your number below, and we’ll share what it may suggest from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.

EP1.|7 Signs Your Body May Be Holding Excess Dampness

Why am I always tired, bloated, and sluggish? 🤔
Can’t lose weight no matter what you do? It might not be fat.

The hidden reason you feel heavy, foggy, and exhausted.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, getting rid of dampness isn’t just about “draining” it away.

You need to strengthen your spleen and digestive system first. 🌿

Try this quick self-check:

✔️ Do you often feel tired, even after enough sleep?
✔️ Do you feel heavy or sluggish throughout the day?
✔️ Do you experience bloating after meals?
✔️ Is your tongue coated with a thick white or yellow layer?
✔️ Do you crave cold drinks, sweets, or comfort foods?
✔️ Do you find it hard to lose weight despite your efforts?
✔️ Do you often feel foggy-headed or lack mental clarity?

If you answered “yes” to several of these, your body may be showing signs of dampness accumulation

Think the TCM treatment is the whole story?
What you do at home matters too.
Stay tuned for the next video. ✨

Even when you eat lighter, sleep earlier, and try to slow down, your body can still feel heavy.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this lingering heaviness is often understood as dampness.

That’s why herbs like Fu Ling have been used for generations — not as a quick fix, but as a gentle way to support the body’s natural balance.

Fu Ling 茯苓 is a medicinal fungus that forms underground around pine tree roots.
Once dried, it is commonly used in herbal formulas, teas, and powders.

Traditionally, Fu Ling is used to support:

◾️Dampness relief
Bloating, heaviness, water retention

◾️Spleen and digestion
Fatigue, weak digestion, low energy

◾️Calm and rest
Overthinking, restless sleep, a busy mind

Mild, neutral, and gentle by nature, Fu Ling is one of those herbs that quietly supports the body — especially when you are trying to feel lighter, clearer, and more balanced.

At Shaun’s Zen TCM & Acupuncture , we offer herbal tea bags and herbal powders designed to support daily dampness relief and everyday wellness.

課程過後,真正回到生活裡,對於養生有更多疑問
A lot of people realize after a workshop that wellness does not end when you understand the ideas.

The real questions begin when you return to daily life.

Is this normal for my body?
Am I just tired, or is my body out of balance?
Is poor sleep, bloating, or cold hands and feet just my body type, or a sign I should pay attention to?
I want to take better care of myself, but where do I actually start?

These questions matter.

In TCM, we do not only look at one symptom.
We look at the whole person, your body condition, your rhythm, and the way you live every day.

Listening to wellness tips is not the end.
The real beginning is how you bring them back into daily life.

Our final added TCM workshop in Taipei has officially wrapped up, with 70 people joining us. 🤍

Because of this extra session, we extended our Asia trip by two more weeks before heading back to Vancouver.

It has been such a meaningful journey, sharing Traditional Chinese Medicine in Singapore and Taiwan, meeting so many people in person, and seeing how much interest there is in bringing TCM wisdom into everyday life.

Thank you Taipei for the warm energy, the full room, and all the thoughtful questions.

Now we’re slowly getting ready to return to Vancouver, with full hearts and many new ideas to bring back to !

Come to our TCM clinic, and together, let’s embark on a journey to health, exploring inner harmony and strength, and achieving holistic well-being for body, mind, and spirit.

TCM workshop was filled with such wonderful energy.

For this workshop, we prepared class materials for everyone. We hope these ideas can be brought back into daily life, slowly and practically.

But what are we really nourishing?

We are not simply nourishing a face that looks young forever.
We are not trying to erase time, avoid every wrinkle, or fight against aging.

In TCM, nourishment means supporting the foundation of the body.

So why do we nourish ourselves?

所以我們為什麼而養?

不是為了對抗年齡,而是希望當年紀慢慢增加時,我們依然可以擁有健康,擁有清楚的精神,擁有照顧自己的能力,也仍然對生活有熱情。

But so that as we grow older, we can still have health, clarity, energy, the ability to care for ourselves, and a genuine passion for life.

True anti-aging is not about looking like time never passed.

It is about reaching each stage of life with strength in the body, calmness in the mind, independence in daily living, and still feeling excited by the beauty of life.

Less depletion.
More nourishment.
A healthier cycle.

This is one of the most important ideas behind TCM wellness.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday .
We hope this workshop was not just an event, but a starting point for understanding and caring for your body in a deeper way.
