Think again.

Your child shouldn’t sound like this when they sleep.

Snoring. Grinding. Heavy, open-mouth breathing…

Those aren’t just “cute” or something you have to accept as normal.

They can be clues that your child may be struggling to breathe well at night and poor-quality sleep can affect things like behavior, mood, and focus over time.

The good news? You don’t have to just wait and hope they grow out of it.

There are ways to support better breathing and healthier sleep and knowing what to look for is the first step.

Comment NIGHT and I’ll send you my free parent’s checklist to help you spot the signs 🥰

If your child sleeps with their mouth open, snores, grinds their teeth, or seems restless at night, don’t automatically assume they’ll “grow out of it.”

These can be signs that breathing, sleep, and oral function deserve a closer look.

As a dental hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, I help parents understand what may be contributing to these patterns—and what steps to take next.

You don’t have to guess or wait and hope it changes.

This isn’t a quick fix. Here’s why. ❤️

This is my own son, before and after his mouth started closing on its own during sleep.

I want to be honest: this wasn’t one trick or one exercise.

Every child’s mouth, airway, and habits are different. What helped him may not look the same for every child.

The exercises you find online aren’t necessarily wrong. But without understanding WHY your child is breathing this way, you’re guessing.

And guessing can take longer than an approach built around your child’s individual needs.

If your child sleeps with their mouth open, you’re not imagining it — and you don’t have to guess where to start.
