Horse to Heart 💗 🐴
Horse to Heart wasnt created because I wanted to teach people how to work with Horses.
I created it because, throughout my life, I've witnessed what humans carry.
For nearly 40 years, Horses have been part of my life.
For 25 years, I worked in nursing.
For more than 15 years, I've worked in emergency services and I continue to do so.
I've stood beside people in some of their hardest moments.
I've had the privilege of working 1:1 with first responders alongside my Horses.
And I've spent years doing the equally important work of turning inward, learning about my own nervous system, my own wellness, my own healing, and what it truly means to come home to myself.
Yoga became part of this beautiful and sometimes messy journey.
Mindfulness, Breath, Somatic awareness, Reiki, Nature, Expressive arts.
Over 1,000 hours of training and study in nervous-system and trauma-informed yoga and modalities have deepened that understanding.
But the Horses…
The horses taught me something different. They taught me that connection cannot be forced.
That presence matters.
That our bodies communicate long before our words do.
That boundaries matter. That choice matters.
And that sometimes the most meaningful thing we can offer another human isn't an answer ~ but an environment where they can feel comfortable enough to listen to themselves, explore at their own pace, and know that their choices belong to them.
That is autonomy.
And it belongs to the horse, too.
At Horse to Heart, we don't ask horses to participate simply because we have decided they should.
We honour their voice, their boundaries.
Their choice to engage ~ or not engage.
Because horses are not tools.
They are sentient beings and partners in the experience.
And this is where Horse to Heart Equine-Enriched Facilitator Certification was born. 🐴💗
This isn't a program about “using” Horses for their wisdom.
It isn't about teaching a horse to perform a behaviour so we can interpret it.
And it isn't about the facilitator having all the answers. It is about relationship.
Horse ~Human ~ Facilitator.
We explore what happens when yoga philosophy, somatic awareness, nervous-system regulation, mindfulness, breath, expressive arts, nature connection and the wisdom of the Herd come together in relationship with the Horse.
But perhaps most importantly, we explore the art of facilitation.
Awareness : How to hold space for the unfolding.
Learning to recognize your own state before stepping into someone else's experience.
Learning to honour boundaries, choice and consent.
Learning to create an environment where both horse and human have autonomy.
Learning to allow something to unfold without needing to control the outcome.
And learning to recognize that the facilitator is part of the experience.
Because how we show up matters.
Our presence matters, and our own nervous system matters.
Before we learn how to facilitate an experience for someone else, we learn how to become present enough to meet ourselves.
This is not simply something I teach.
It is something I continue to live.
My own wellness journey has taught me that we don't have to have everything figured out before we begin.
Sometimes we simply need the space to listen, breathe and reconnect.
To remember who we are beneath all the noise.
That is the heart of Horse to Heart.
